POV Sonic
Day 1... I thought as I stared at the mirror. My green eyes, most definitely, showing anxiousness to talking to Shadow. He just always looks so mean!
After I walked into the kitchen and ate, I walked my way to school. It was kinda chilly so I needed to wear a sweater; I will never wear pants though! As I was about to enter those two taunting school doors, I saw Shadow. He looked calm. His hands were inside his leather jacket pockets and the only movement in his face was his eyes blinking. I watched as he grew closer to the main doors and a lady from the front office greeted him. He greeted back. I shook my head and speed-walked to him. "Hey Shadow!" I exclaimed as I walked inside the building. He looked at me then looked around me, then looked back at me. "Hello." He replied, his tone didn't sound mean, but it wasn't exactly welcoming either.
"What class you got?" I turned to him, shifting all of my attention towards him. I smiled cheerfully, trying to not make him too alert. "Art." My ears perked up, his husky voice sent shivers down my spine, I laughed nervously. "I got that class next period. Do you like it?" I tried making a conversation but we just didn't seem to budge. "I'm sorry if I seem pushy. If I'm being honest, you're so mysterious. I guess my curiosity got the best of me." I rubbed my hands behind my neck while an awkward smile grew on my muzzle. "It's fine, no one has tried to engage in a conversation with me before, but yes, I do like art. Do you like it?" Shadow asked me, I guess I'm not the only one who avoided talking to him. I nodded and looked in front, awkwardly walking beside him.
"Do you want to be friends? Honestly, you just seem like a chill dude." I stated and I waited for his reply. That will be the first step, if he accepts. We stopped in front of the water fountains and we stared at each other. "Yes. You are Sonic, aren't you? I'm Shadow" My eyes widened slightly. Never thought he paid any mind to me. He never really seemed to pay any mind to anything.
"You know me? I thought you didn't really care about anyone else, not in the selfish way, but in the..uh..good way." Shadow stared at me, again with no expression whatsoever. "I understand why you might've thought that." Shadow said to me, he's really formal, and respectful too. He didn't even react.
"Oh? Why's that?" I said, genuinely curious in what he had to say. "I'm aware of being known as emotionless, that I don't feel. I do, by the way, just hard to." My ears perked as the tardy bell rung and interrupted Shadow. He cleared his throat and I panicked and jumped, running to take Shadow to his class for taking up his time. "I'm sorry for wasting your time! Bye!" I quickly said before running to my class. Just hard to? What does he mean by that?
I spent half of the day trying to break down, analyze, and figure out what Shadow meant by what he said. Endless amounts of things, I guess I just don't know him that well yet. Shit! I forgot to ask for his socials! Or maybe I should ask for his phone number. I'm not sure, I just need to be able to contact him somehow. I'll see if I could catch him after school.
The end of the day bell rang and I ran out fast as usual before I can hear the teachers scold me for running in the halls. I waited for him at the exit, watching the people flow by like little ghosts. I raised my head, moving it left and right, trying to find those red striped quills and then...there! I found him and ran to him, smiling at him as I caught him off guard. "Hey Shadow, don't intend to bug ya or anything, but can I get your phone number? If we're gonna be friends, I at least wanna talk to you." I chuckled as I smiled at him and he nodded.
He gave me his number and I insisted on walking him home. "Let me walk ya home. We can talk along the way." I blurted out as I walked beside him. "I personally don't mind since I live alone, thank you for your company." He lives alone? Huh. Most people still live with their parents. "Why do you live alone? Do you just like it better that way?" I waited for his reply and I watched him look up to think. "Yes, it is a sense of freedom. What about you? Do you live with your guardians?"
Sense of freedom...guess that makes sense, parents house, their rules, right?"Sorta, I rented my own place like a week ago, I still need to move some stuff around but I've been lazy. Tails is moving in with me he's like my little brother. Oh! You have any siblings?"
"No one, just me." Shadow put his hands on the pockets of his leather jacket and looked at me."Do you have siblings? Besides the fox?" I giggled at Tail's new nickname and nodded. "Yes, a brother and sister, Manic and Sonia."
"Hey, I can introduce you to my friends if you want, but they are a little more different than me of course." I began to state and rubbed my hand behind my neck. "Some will find you weird because you're not talkative like most. But I don't think that way! I will proudly correct them if I hear anything mean come from their mouths!" I panicked as I saw him look at me dead in the eye.
"Okay."
That's it?
Okay then. I shrugged to myself and looked down at the cracks of the sidewalk. "So why aren't you more talkative?" I looked back at him as my gaze landed on his upward styled quills, I wonder how he gets them like that, or is it natural? "It is simply not to my liking. It's something I've learned to accept, that I'm not like others, unfortunately." Shadow gave off a lonesome sigh and he looked at the ground."Wait! Wait! No! Man, you being the way you are is amazing enough." Shadow gave me a small tilt to his head letting me know he was confused. "I mean the way I see you, is that you don't care what people think and that actually genuinely amazes me because most people change themselves for others." I rambled on, speaking with my hands and smiling occasionally. "Which most of the time leads to them going nuts, as in losing themselves." I ended the point and let my talking hands dangle down beside my waist.
"Well, this is my house. Maybe tomorrow I can walk you to your place. Or help you move out as a thanks for your company." Shadow insisted as he turned around to face me, slightly looking down since he was a few inches taller than me. "Don't worry about it, you don't owe me anything! But I would really enjoy the quality time." I smiled widely and warmly as I waved goodbye, watching him walk to the front door of his one story home.
