TW! Blood, violence, PTSD

NZ walked cautiously into the classroom.
He was scared, it wasn't the fear of "making new friends" or "stress" either he was practically shaking with panic.

He was alone.

Australia was not there to help him.
He couldn't bear go through what happened last year again.
Images reeled in his head, flashes of Scarlett red blood leaking from his lip, the feeling of his chest tightening, his vision filled with faint coloured shapes before going black, hiding in the bathroom. Scars, bruises, blood. The images flashed faster- ache, pain, fear. His heart was beating fast and loud like a drum rising to a crescendo. The bloodcurdling screams , vivid in his mind.

Some country elbowed his arm

"New Zealand?"a different voice said

"Present!" The country shouted for him

"Ah good."

NZ pov:
"Hey are you good dude?" The country asked me.

"Yeah, I-I'm fine mate" I say in a not even somewhat convincing tone with my accent thick as ever. That happens when I'm nervous.

I'm not alright. I almost had a panic attack. Cold sweat is dribbling down my face and my breathing rate is through the roof.

I try to calm down by focusing on something,
I resort to staring at the country who elbowed me.
A nice bright blue flag with fine golden details. An intricate pattern down its right hand side and a large sun in the middle with a bird soaring underneath.

"Kazakhstan" he says, probably noticing that I'm staring at him like some weirdo.

"New Zealand!" I reply joyfully

"Yeah I figured... I saw your name on that book about kiwis-"

"You know about kiwis?!" I say probably a bit more excited then I meant to be- the people around us were staring intently at the situation.

"How embarrassing- even worse he is going to be really weirded out when he sees how weak and nervous I can get" I'm thinking covering my face with my hands.

I shoot a glance to the side and see him also looking slightly embarrassed,

I shoot him a comforting smile
He reflects it instantly like a mirror.

Maybe this year won't be so bad after all.
