"Such gravity-defying confection,
such rich food for the eyes of the soul,
and so preposterously more than enough to remind us that one day we too will be as uplifted in rapture as a sugar-rose, spun finer than a thread of shining caramel,
our sweet flesh will be as candied apricots, exquisite riposte to catastrophe and apocalypse and the great night that lies at our feet; incarnated with all compassion, then broken and consumed."
-Lesley Saunders, This Thing of Love & Blood

You are sweet as a Croquembouche,
like in the rose-tinted windows of French bakeries,
I'd always want one of you whenever I pass by it,
it leaves me yearning,
and longing,
wistfully.
Your brown eyes shine like honey dew glowing in the sunlight,
it compliments your milk-colored skin.
Like a Croquembouche,
you always leave me stunned
by your unique looks.
I always wonder how the bakers do it so effortless and flawlessly-
how they line up the cream puffs, one by one,
as it sways in the drowning flood of caramel over them.
How can anyone ever say no to you?
For I've always wondered how, and in what possibility-
Out of all of the enigmas I've discovered in this universe,
why have I always dwelled in the milky way and stardust forming inside your chocolate eyes,
when there's 2 trillion other galaxies outside of you,
waiting for me?
Because, I've always questioned how,
and in what way-
have I chose you over 8 billion people living and existing on this planet?
For like a Croquembouche,
I'd pick you over any French desert in the bakery,
yearning,
and longing.
