"I hate the way you talk to me
And the way you cut your hair
I hate the way you drive my car
I hate it when you stare
I hate your big dumb combat boots
And the way you read my mind
I hate you so much that it makes me sick
And even makes me rhyme
I hate the way you're always right
I hate it when you lie
I hate it when you make me laugh
Even worse when you make me cry
I hate it when you're not around
And the fact that you didn't call
But mostly I hate the way I don't hate you
Not even close
Not even a little bit
Not even at all"
-Kat Stratford in 10 Things I Hate About YouI hate you.
I really do.
But I don't hate you.
I just hate the fact that you turn me into a butterfly,
rather than a putrid and grotesque black widow,
just with the single touch of your hand,
or with the single glance of your eyes,
everything about you causes me to lose my mind.
For,
instead of hissing at you like some serpentine,
or drawing blood from your veins like a spider bite,
I leave traces of honey in my words when I write letters for you,
so that,
once it lures you to the web of my ambrosial infatuation,
you'll know how special you are.
