The look of Violet's face is so fucking adorable.
"I'm sorry, what did you just say?"
"You want me to pretend that I have a guy, that I just met, staying with me at my apartment for sex."
"Yes. Would that be something out of the ordinary for you?"
"Not particularly. Out of the ordinary for the me after Kai."
"Okay, then they will just think that you went through a little depressed phase and now you're back."
"A depressed phase?! What is wrong with you?!"
"All I'm saying is, it could be an MC member who is only there to protect you, not have sex with you, and they wouldn't question it."
"And who would it be, Major? All except you and one other guy have wives and families."
"Well, it's either me or the other guy then."
"You have to be kidding."
"I'm not. It's a solution. We know each other. I would never do anything to hurt you, and since we would be together often, we could work on finding Kai."
Violet goes quiet, a more relaxed and open expression on her face. I can tell she's actually thinking it over now instead of trying to argue out of it. I don't think it's a bad idea.
Yes, she'll have some explaining to do with her friends, but I think her safety is more important than that. I'm not going to apologize for thinking that either. Now that I have come to the conclusion that Kai hasn't gone far, I have a duty to keep Violet safe.
It would be so stupid of me to just leave her alone when he could come back and hurt her. It wouldn't be the first time that something like that has happened. I'm not an idiot.
And Violet doesn't need to be harmed by this guy anymore. He's already put her through hell. She doesn't need to be looking over her shoulder, not while I'm around.
"Okay, I can get on board with this. But I want to work, and I have to talk with Harper first. I can't just be letting some random guy stay over while she's around."
I nod my head in understanding. I'll introduce myself to Harper and even get to know Clara. I'll just pretend to be the new guy in Violet's life. That won't be difficult because I pretty much am. If Harper starts asking questions, then I'll answer them honestly.
I'm not going to hide anything about myself, the only thing that Violet and I have to technically hide is a budding romance. I can't imagine that being a bad thing. She's fucking gorgeous, brave, hella strong, and I could see myself wanting to get to know her.
Violet gets off of the bench, holding her phone to her ear. She taps her fingers on her long and flowy skirt, pinching the fabric.
She paces back and forth as she talks to Harper, who I didn't know she was going to call right this minute, but I think Violet also wants to get a move on with the next steps. If she could explain to me what those are, that would be incredibly helpful because I am lost.
I still don't know how to find Kai. I pretty much know he's in the Westmoor and Grove Heights area which limits where I have to look, and I also know that he's got connections, and I also know that he could just be living in the woods.
I'm just not sure where to go next with Violet's information. I have to think about it. I'm sure the two of us will come up with something. The benefit of having a partner, I guess.
Violet comes back to the bench with a smile on her face. She rests a gentle hand on my shoulder, saying that Harper is more than happy for me to come over whenever I please.
