"What the fuck are y'all doing up there?! I'm stuck in a fucking bush!"
I don't know if I've heard Violet say curse words before. I mean, I have when watching Dance Moms, but that's completely different.
"Oh shit," I whisper before running out of the house to get to her.
She lays in a bush, fully stuck because her legs are trapped through the branches, her face bright red.
"I can't believe you forgot me here," she grumbles, trying to cross her arms in front of her, but her bracelet is trapped on a flower bud so she's just tugging one arm.
"I can't believe I tossed you out of a fucking window and you're mad that I just forgot about you."
"So you admit that you did."
"Kai's dead body is up there, so I was concentrated on that," I reply, as I get her bracelet free first before moving onto her legs.
"Wait, Kai's dead," Violet sort of asks, but it's also a statement.
"As a doornail."
She pauses, brushing off the leaves from her body as she stands.
"That's sort of weird for me to hear."
"I can only imagine," I reply, nodding my head in understanding.
"I don't want to see his dead body."
"I would never ask you to," I assert as I place one hand on her hip.
Her hands come up to my shoulders, tugging me slightly closer to her as she surveys my body for any damage. When she finds none, she yanks me into her arms, wrapping her arms around my neck.
Her body is flush with mine as she tucks her head into my shoulder. She shivers as I pull her in tighter to hold her as close as I possibly can. Clearly, she needs this, and I would be lying to say I didn't need it to.
There is nothing more calming and safe than being right here.
Once she's ready, Violet lifts her head from my shoulder, using one to cradle to the side of my face. I know what she wants, and she has full permission. I bring my lips down to her, so we don't have to say a word to one another.
I hum in relief as she smiles against my mouth and pulls me down to her even more.
"I think the MC knows now," I address as we exit our embrace.
"They should know. It's not like we were pretty much ever faking it."
"I don't think I could have."
"From the first second I met you, I didn't want to have to fake anything," Violet admits, blushing.
"Now you never do."
I place a kiss on her forehead, wrapping an arm around her shoulders. I glance up at the broken window to see the guys smiling down at us. She waves up at them shyly, not that she needs to. She's got nothing to be embarrassed about.
I hear more cars in the gravel driveway, turning my head to see who it is. Carbon, Piper, and Vegas get out of the car, and Piper sprints into the half-burned building, clearly searching out Bullet. She was probably watching that whole damn thing on the video surveillance that she hacked.
The pain on her face has Violet holding me closer, which I can barely believe that she can, and we listen in silence as she cradles and cries over her husband.
Bullet keeps trying to reassure her that he's totally fine, and he is, just going to be a little bruised and sore, but she isn't listening to a word that he says.
Bear and Vegas help get the two of them to the MC doctor while the rest of us wait for Alpha to give us a call about what he specifically wants us to do.
Slasher and Carbon are taking inventory while Reaper and Whiskey are standing by the body. Violet and I are still outside, the better option for her more than me, but I also understand not wanting to go inside.
I don't want her to have to see the body either. That would be awful.
Tank is communicating with Poison who is at headquarters.
I'm not quite sure what Poison is doing, but Alpha definitely called him there to do something important because Dakota is feeling sick, and he wouldn't be pulled away from her unless it was absolutely necessary.
Tank waves me up to him from the window, and I direct Violet to go sit in one of the cars. I go up to Tank and find that he has a note in his hand.
The code is the same as the one before, and I take it down to the car where Violet is, clearly on the phone with a stressed-out Harper.
While Violet explains to her friends that we're completely fine and that we just got a little sidetracked, I decode the message through the same decoder from the first message.
It takes about thirty seconds for the message to become clear, and the final words from Kai are "To the end." Fucking eerie as hell, but he's dead so it doesn't matter. What a mark to leave.
Violet lays her head on my shoulder as she explains to Harper that we will be staying in for the night and that she'll give the details later. What she's really saying is that she needs a moment to relax and she's not ready to explain to Harper why she does.
Harper and Clara, of course, are as supportive as ever, and they wish us goodnight before going back to clubbing. Holy fuck, what a night this has been. I also know that neither Violet or I are going to bed anytime soon.
Violet hasn't said anything about being injured from the toss out the window, and she was fine standing on her own, so the most she'll be hurt physically is bruised.
It's the mental and emotional part of the night that I'm most worried about.
"Scout, I'm going to be okay. I promise. I just want to be alone with you."
"Let's go to my place," I suggest, "That way we don't have to worry about anyone bothering us."
"It's also closer to here than mine."
"You don't want to pick up clothes?"
"I can just wear yours."
Hell yeah she can.
Behind us, two motorcycles, clearly Alpha and Poison, park in the driveway. Violet and I get out of the car, and we greet them before I briefly take Alpha aside.
"Am I good to get Vi out of here? We can discuss what happened tomorrow, full rundown, but now isn't the best time."
Alpha debates it for it a second, which I can understand. Our minds are fresh, so we have clear heads of what happened. However, we aren't forgetting what happened tonight by tomorrow, probably not in a few months or ever.
Both of our lives were at risk. I'm never going to forget how fucking scared I was that Violet was going to get hurt. That's not something I can just forget.
"Yeah, you two can go home. But you call me if you need anything."
I nod my head and pat him on the shoulder in a thank you.
I take my girl's hand and guide her over to my motorcycle, put her helmet on, and we're quick to get to my apartment. It's small but cozy, and I don't need much else.
I mean, one bedroom one bathroom isn't terrible. I have a laundry machine, a dishwasher, a fridge, and everything else I could possibly need.
It's sort of a bachelor pad, but I can't be blamed for that. I've been a bachelor for a long time.
When Violet walks in, I can tell she's taking it all in, forming her judgments and how she's going to phrase them nicely, not that I need her to protect my ego.
I open the fridge to show her the food that exists on the shelves, though not much because I've been staying at hers.
"So what do you want to do?" I ask her, seeing what I can do to make her feel safe and comfortable.
"I want to shower," she sighs as she ruffles her hair.
"I can show you where everything is."
"You can cause you'll be joining me."
