You go to wash the dishes after a bit of interrogation from your family especially your mother. As you stand at the sink, a smile creeps onto your face at the familiarity of it all.
You missed this, your mother's worried words, your stepfather treating you like his own daughter with his proud comments that melt your heart, and your stepbrother's nonchalant gaze that hides a soft heart.
The peace you feel with them by your side is overwhelming. It's only been a month since you last saw them but it feels like years. What more will it be like when I'm actually gone for a year?
Your family is not rich but not poor either. You lead an average life yet you don't want to be a burden to them, especially now that you have finished your studies. You can't just live under your parents' roof forever as if you are still a child. This is the time for you to be independent and finally help your family.
Your dream of becoming a cabin steward is within reach and you have to get used to being on your own to bear it.
Thinking positively about the outcomes of your life, you smile to yourself as you finally finish doing the dishes let's just enjoy and think about it when the time comes.
You wipe your hands with a towel and head to the living room where you find Yoongi fixing his phone on a tripod and your parents seated on the couch.
Your mother spots you and signals for you to come over. Walking towards them in confusion, you wonder what's going on.
"What's this?" you smile at them
"A memory for us to keep" your mother said softly as you feel your heart melt.
"Yoongi? Aren't you done yet?" your stepfather raises a brow.
"Hold on my phone isn't— ah there" Yoongi walks back, sitting beside your stepfather as you sit in the middle of your parents.
You waited as the timer goes then you smile.
You then hear a click.
After taking a few pictures with your family, Yoongi grabs his phone back and sets aside the tripod.
You then suggest watching a movie together and they all immediately agree.
"Wait, I'll go close the windows" you stand up and close it then suddenly hear a loud bang outside startling you and prompting you to close it quickly.
"What was that?" your mother looks at you worriedly as you only smile at her and shake your head.
"Must be Ms. Wong's husband again" you responded, remembering your neighbor's husband likes to bang on their roof everytime he's drunk.
