Ashley woke up the next day with a sense of excitement and purpose. She couldn’t wait to share her dream with her brother, Austin. Slipping into her boots, she made her way to the barn where she knew he’d be tending to the cows.
The morning sun cast long shadows across the farm, and the scent of fresh hay filled the air. As she approached the barn, she could hear the familiar sounds of cows lowing and Austin’s voice, humming a tune while he worked.
“Austin!” she called out, stepping into the barn. “You won’t believe the dream I had last night!”
Austin looked up from his task, a grin spreading across his face. “Well, good morning, sis! What brings you to the barn this early? Got a secret recipe for cow happiness you’re about to share?”
Ashley laughed, shaking her head. “No, but it’s something just as good. I had a dream about Mom and Dad.”
Austin’s eyes softened, and he put down the bucket he was holding. “Really? Tell me all about it.”
As Ashley recounted her dream, Austin listened intently, his expression a mix of interest and nostalgia. When she finished, she looked at him expectantly. “So, what do you think?”
Austin leaned against the barn wall, a thoughtful look on his face. “You know, Ash, that’s pretty amazing. I had a similar dream about Mom not too long ago. It felt so real, like she was actually there, giving me advice and reminding me to keep the spirit of humor and love alive in our family.”
He paused, a mischievous glint in his eye. “And of course, she told me to make sure I don’t let the cows hear my singing too much, or they might start producing sour milk.”
Ashley laughed, shaking her head. “Oh, Austin, always with the jokes.”
Austin chuckled, then grew more serious. “But really, Ash, I think these dreams mean a lot. It’s like they’re still with us, watching over us, and making sure we don’t take life too seriously. Mom and Dad always knew how to balance hard work with a good laugh.”
Ashley nodded, feeling a sense of comfort. “It’s nice to think they’re still around in some way, isn’t it?”
Austin smiled warmly. “Yeah, it is. And hey, if you ever feel down, just remember, you’ve got me to crack a joke or two. Like they say, laughter is the best medicine, right?”
Ashley grinned. “Right. Thanks, Austin.”
They stood there for a moment, basking in the shared memory of their parents and the warmth of their bond. The cows lowed softly in the background, and the morning sun bathed the barn in a golden glow.
