Chaos was finishing up some details on a new mission when it happened. He felt the tingling sensation begin and he cursed himself for getting the date wrong. 'No. No. No. This can't be happening! I haven't told Percy!' His mind panicked. HIs body was already beginning to disappear as he tried to quickly mind-message his son.

'Percy! I'll-'

He didn't get to finish. The space he occupied shimmered before settling into nothingness. An empty silence being all that remained.

Percy was sitting at a table in the dining hall with some soldiers, Annabeth, and Luke when Chaos' voice filled his head but was cut off. Confusion turned into shock as he felt the aura of his father suddenly disappear. The others at the table could feel the change in their commander's mood as Percy went rigid.

Annabeth was about to ask if he was okay when a bright light surrounded him. Everyone shielded their eyes. As the light faded, they turned back to Percy. They froze in their seats, color draining from their faces. No one spoke a word.

Percy was still sitting like he was, except now pale like everyone else. What sat upon his head caused the stunned silence. Where his crown would normally lay on his black hair sat Chaos' crown. Reaching up, he gently took it from his head, holding it in his hands. When he looked up, every soldier, besides Luke and Annabeth, was now on one knee, bowing.

Annabeth looked around in surprise, then spoke softly, "Percy?"

As soon as she spoke he stood quickly, rushing out of the room and now sprinting to his dad's office. Gripping the crown tightly in one hand.

"Percy!" Both Luke and Annabeth shouted as they followed him.

Chaos' office door was almost ripped from its hinges as Percy slammed through it. His eyes glistening with panic, fear, and grief as he scanned the room.

Empty.

He reached his senses out but quickly found his usual power heightened significantly. Without even trying his mind raced across the entire universe as he blinked. And his search came back empty. He staggered forward as the rush hit him full force and gripped the edge of the desk before him. Thoughts racing. 'No. He can't be... What- I talked to him this morning.... No, please no....'

Luke and Annabeth rushed into the room to find only Percy who was now breathing heavily, bent over gripping the desk with white knuckles.

"Percy! What's wrong?!" Annabeth ask urgently. Placing a hand on his shoulder.

Luke remained silent. Knowing exactly what this meant, thinking to himself. His attention was drawn back to Percy as he noticed the shift in his power.

Percy was now trembling as he felt each and every new access of power awaken in him. He was trying to reign it back, to keep it from overwhelming him. His eyes were shut tight in effort as he spoke, "Get out of here."

"Percy, what's happening?" Annabeth pleaded. She could feel the power rolling off him. Luke looked at him questionably before it suddenly clicked into place.

"Annabeth but up a shield! Now!

She looked to Luke, "What?!"

"His powers! He is losing control! Do it!"

As Luke began to make his own shield around his friend, Annabeth did the same.

Percy finally looked at them, noticing they were not leaving. Both let out a gasp. Instead of his eyes glowing sea green, they were black with shining galaxies swirling brightly. A groan escaped him through gritted teeth as the power began to slip from his control.

Both Luke and Annabeth enforced the shield around him as his control fell. With a mighty force, pure white power pulsed outward from Percy with a cry of pain. The shield the two made held for a moment but cracks began to spread quickly before it shattered, sending them both to the ground.

Percy felt the powers find their place inside him and just as they did he was able to grab hold of them once again. As soon as it had started, it was over.

Percy was breathing heavily as he looked at the now destroyed office. Luke was already up, helping Annabeth. He scanned them for injuries and found none before trying to focus. His senses began to go crazy and his mind was overwhelmed.

Annabeth was then beside Percy, scanned him for injuries. "What was that? What happened in the dining hall? Why did Chaos' crown just appear on your head? Wait, where is Chaos?" Speaking her thoughts out loud.

Percy wouldn't meet her eyes. He couldn't even think properly. "H-He's gone."

"What? What do you mean gone?"

Percy winced and rubbed his head as he felt his connection with everything begin to form. Luke frowned and decided to answer for him. "Annabeth, Chaos' crown signifies who is ruling the universe... For it to appear on Percy like that means Chaos is no longer in this world."

Annabeth paled as she processed what this meant. Looking away from Percy as he scowled at the wall, ignoring them, facing Luke. "You mean..."

Luke only nodded solemnly as he walked closer to his brother. "Percy?"

At the sound of his name his head snapped up. Eyes blazing with apprehension. Instead of answering he quickly walked to the other side of the desk and looked at the papers scattered there.

"Thank the gods, he already worked up a mission. Luke, there is a war happening on planet #280 between the current rulers and planet #750 who are invading. I need you to take 3-4 sections of the army and handle that while I go handle another matter on planet #641."

Luke took the mission report, noting it was in Chaos' handwriting, and began reading it.

Annabeth spoke up with concern, "I'll come with you Percy."

"No. I need you here to act as leader in my place until I get back. I should be back by dinner. It is one of those diplomatic meetings Chaos always complained about. You will be here incase someone needs help." Quickly shuffling through more papers.

"How do you know all this?" Annabeth quizzed anxiously, already knowing part of the answer. She didn't want to accept it.

Percy looked to her, obviously thinking of how to explain it before speaking with a solemn tone, "It's like, I can feel or see everything that is going on everywhere... It's flashing through my head. Everything...." He was already getting a headache and rubbed his temple. He shoved it all the the back of his mind the best he could as the seriousness of the situation began to set in.

He was Chaos' son... if Chaos is gone... He had to rule in his place...

Annabeth put her hand on his arm, "Percy...It's okay. You don't have to do this alone. We can learn this together okay?"

Percy looked at her with gratitude before looking to Luke.

"I will follow your command any day Lord Percy." Giving him a smirk and bow to ease the tension.

Percy smiled but it faded quickly as he was again reminded that he was gone.

"Okay, let's see what needs to be done."
