What if Percy and Luke didn't get along right away?
~~
Luke was just finishing up a lesson when he heard Chaos in his head. "Come to my office. I am ready to introduce you to him."
I dismissed the next group's lesson and made my way to the top floor. I grew nervous the closer I got. 'What if he doesn't like me? Who is this person? Why does Chaos seem so nervous about this? Why am I so nervous, it's just another warrior.'
Luke stood at the door for a minute gathering himself. He knocked once.
"Come in Luke."
As Luke opened the door he first saw Chaos standing at his desk. He seemed to be holding his breath. 'Weird,' he thought. As he entered the room his attention went to the other person standing to the side. He heard the person turn and then they locked eyes.
~~
'Did Percy just hear right? Luke? Could it actually be him?' Percy thought as he turned.
There was silence for a split second.
Luke was frozen in place. Scared of what this boy thought of him. Shocked he was here...
To say Percy was shocked was an understatement. He couldn't believe what he was seeing. Luke's scar, his blue eyes and sandy blonde hair. He didn't move, frozen still.
Luke was the first to break eye contact as he looked to the ground. Ashamed of his actions taken against Percy back on earth. He caused so much pain for people... He glanced up to see Percy studying him.
Percy's eyes were unreadable.
The atmosphere turned tense.
Percy felt ecstatic, frustrated, angry, confused. How was Luke here. Why did it have to be him? He didn't know what to feel towards the other demigod in the room. Yeah he took the blade to end his own life. Yet, the pain he caused so many people, the death and destruction that other kids had to endure. It was obvious he was uncomfortable with this situation as well...
Luke opened his mouth to speak but stopped when Percy stepped forward.
"I should say I forgive you but I'm not sure I do."
They locked eyes.
"I wouldn't expect you to Percy."
Silence filled the air as they observed each other.
"Okay, now that that is out of the way, Luke, you and Percy here will be training together to get him up to speed with the soldiers. I will also be training him." Chaos quickly filled in, trying to ease the tension. 'Maybe this wasn't a good idea.' He said to himself.
Luke nodded to Chaos.
"When do we start?" Percy inquired blankly.
"Tomorrow. 8 am." Luke answered.
Percy nodded before walking out. A grimace adorning his face.
Once he was gone Chaos spoke up. "Well, that went splendidly."
Luke just stared at him like he was crazy. "What the h*ll Chaos. No warning. No heads up. You just toss me to the wolves like that!! You know what I did to them! You know the pain I caused! Yet you just introduce us like that!!?"
"I'm sure it will work out! You did like each other when you first met did you not!"
Luke just turned and huffed out the door.
