"The Gang"

~~

The same night, the once silent building which was filled with all sorts of weapons and multiple men for the protection of their boss, are all now running around in the order of a little girl.

“Bon Ahjussi!!! Come here. Let’s hide. He won’t find us here.” Little Ji-sook whispered to the man who was trying to find a place to hide.

They all were playing hide and seek in the big hall of the mansion. If you’re wondering how the situation turned out this way, then all it took for Ji-sook to pull out her most important weapon. The puppy eyes. The cute, fluttering, big puppy eyes that had these men on their knees for the kid.

Turned out that the men, who looked dangerous, carrying life threatening weapons, having this impression of being ruthless and merciless, were all a big softie inside for the puppy eyes the small human was showing to them. Though, at first, Ji-sook was scared of the stares she received from these men the moment she looked at any of them. The stare itself scared her so much that she started crying, looking for her father who was nowhere to be seen.

That seemed to do the work as she found all the men present in the hall crouched down around her, asking if she’s okay. One of the men, that she later got to know his name was Bon, came forward and took her in his arms, shushing her down with gentle pats on her back.

And now, here they are, playing with the kid. The man, Bon, implied on her words and crouched down beside her, as she placed herself in his embrace, hiding herself deep inside the corner of the closet.

“How do you manage to find the best places to hide, huh? Here I am struggling to at least hide my fingers somewhere.” The man whined, a barely visible pout in his face in the sense to make the small girl let out a fit of giggles.

“I play hide and seek a lot with my Appa and Dada, and also with grandpa sometimes. That’s why.” Ji-sook beamed with a glint of excitement in her eyes.

But soon the shine left her eyes, as she continued.

“But Dada is not with us now. Appa said he had gone somewhere in the sky, to become a star, and would look at me from there. And I’m missing him so much. He didn’t even inform me that he was leaving. If he had, I would’ve given him so many kisses and a lot of hugs so that he wouldn’t forget the love I have for him, and would have prepared a goodbye card for him.” Ji-sook mumbled with a sad pout.

The man beside her took in a sharp breath, clearly uncomfortable with the mention of the said man. He was there when his other gang members brutally killed Jackson.

He pitied the little girl, who still was unaware of her Dad being murdered, and had not gone somewhere on his own. The urge of caressing her hair to comfort her, which came upon him suddenly, died down as soon as it came.

He couldn’t take pity on this little bundle of joy. He’s a gangster, a member of the mafia, and he couldn’t let these emotions and feelings take control over his mind, he couldn’t be weak for her. He shook his head to shove that thought out of his mind.

“Bon. How’s the child? Any trouble till now?” His team leader, David, who’s known as the right hand of their boss, inquired.

“No sir.” Bon answered, and got a curt nod in response from his leader.

The leader glanced towards the clump beneath the blankets, where the little girl was fast asleep, tired from all the playing previously.
