“Missing Piece”

~~

The next morning, Jungkook woke up with some weight over his upper body. He squinted his eyes in confusion as he slowly came out of his drowsy state. He rubbed his eyes and pushed the hair of his forehead back, before he looked down on himself and found the weight he felt over his abdomen was no one but Ji-sook.

As far as he remembered, he made her a separate section in his bed with some comfortable fluffy blankets beside him for her to have a better sleep. But it seemed like the kid found this human bed more comfortable to sleep in. The thought made him let out a chuckle. He would want nothing more than to wake up every morning with this adorable sight. He couldn’t help thinking about this. What if…No, he shouldn’t be having this thought.

The kid stirred and that seemed to bring Jungkook out of his battle he was having in his head. Instantly, Jungkook brought his hand over the kid’s head, softly caressing her hair in order to assure her that she’s not alone in the room.

She was mumbling something in her sleepy state and Jungkook had to lean his head up a little in order to hear it. “Dada~” Ji-sook mumbled as she nuzzled her head more into Jungkook’s clothed chest. And Jungkook would be lying if he said his heart didn’t skip a beat at Ji-sook’s words.

He just stared some more minutes at the sleeping kid before Ji-sook blinked her eyes open, coming back from her dreamland. She first looked around the unfamiliar room she was in, then her eyes landed on the bed, to the body she laid on, and at last on the face of the man.

“Kookie uncle…” She sat up as well as Jungkook and placed the kid on his lap.

“Good morning, Little one. Slept well?” Jungkook pushed away the strands of hair that were covering Ji-sook’s eyes, and reached out to the drawer of the nightstand beside his bed to pull out a hair tie and tied her hair into a loose bun, leaving some portions of hair loose that completed the cute look of the kid.

To his question, Ji-sook nodded in answer, yawning cutely. Jungkook cooed, taking her in his arms before heading to the bathroom. “Let’s get you fresh first before having breakfast, sounds good, baby?”

“Ok. And Appa?” She looked up at him in question.

“Appa is still in his dreamland, just like you were before. Wanna go to him?”

“I want to. But I do know Appa must be tired. Because of me, he was worried. I’ll meet Appa later when he wakes up.” Ji-sook continued to brush her teeth with a dull expression, but the man’s expressions were soft as he stared at her.

She’s just like her father, always worried about others.

“Ji-sook-ah, your Appa was worried because he loves you and cares for you. You tend to get worried for someone when you love them. It’s not your fault, baby. You love Appa, right?” Ji-sook nodded. “And if you won’t see him or hear from him for days, you’ll be worried too, won’t you?” Ji-sook once again nodded, agreeing and understanding the point Jungkook was trying to explain.

“If you still feel sad about that, let’s do this one thing for Appa. Would you like to help me prepare breakfast for Jimin and grandpa?” Jungkook forwarded his hand towards Ji-sook, waiting for her to decide if she wanted to. As he had expected, Ji-sook placed her hand on Jungkook’s, agreeing to help him.

Jimin woke up much later than usual. He glanced at his side to the clock on the wall to find it’s already past 10. He stretched his limbs before getting off his bed and dragging his body to the restroom.
