On Halloween, they planned a party.

"Regulus is getting fire whiskey and butterbeer, Dorcas is on decorations, Barty is finding cups, Alecto has music, Panda is getting food, Amycus is already drunk, Severus is brooding in a corner somewhere, and you, my pretty friend, need to invite people." Evan tells her and she groans.

"Evan, I don't like peop-"

"All Slytherin fourth year and up is allowed, but you might be able to find a few Hufflepuffs and Ravenclaws." He nudges her shoulder and Adhara sighs.

"Fine." She groans as she makes her way to the exit of the common room.

"Make sure to invite Diggory, and tell him to bring that muggle herb. I like that stuff." He calls after her.

After she's invited a few select Hufflepuffs and Ravenclaws, she headed to the Great hall, where she knew Remus would be.

The four Gryffindors were there, and she made eye contact with Remus for a moment. It seemed that he was talking to Sirius again.

Regulus had been out of the hospital wing in just a few hours, but he was quick to hide away from the group. Adhara could tell he was upset about what Sirius did, even if he didn't want to show it. That was just who Regulus was, emotionally closed off and reserved.

"You, kid." She snaps at a Hufflepuff girl, who looked to be a first year. She stared up at her in fear.

"You see that boy, the one with the scars. That's Remus Lupin. Give him this note, and tell no one about this. Do you understand?" She shoves the note into the girls hand while she nodded quickly.

Adhara quickly walked out of the hall.

Remus was sitting across from Peter and Sirius, and James was sitting next to him.

"Nah, we pulled that one last year-" James begins.

"Excuse me." A small voice says. The four boys turn to the small Hufflepuff girl, who was shaking.

"Hello." James says softly, eyeing the terrified state of the girl.

"I-I've got something, for you." She shoves a piece of paper into Remus' hands, and then runs away quickly. Remus was sure she was about to cry.

"They keep getting weirder and weirder." Sirius mumbles as Remus unfolds the note.

Meet me at my common room at midnight.
-A

Remus blushed slightly, he couldn't help it. Adhara Black did something to him, made him get butterflies and all that.

"Meet me at my common room at midnight. A" James reads over his shoulder. Sirius goes to lunge for the note, but Remus sets it on fire. Surely Sirius would recognize her writing.

"When do we get to meet this girl, Moons?" Peter whines. They had been bugging him about it since that day at the scrimmage.

"Never." He says quickly.

Remus and Adhara weren't dating or anything like that, they were friends. And Remus didn't know how Sirius would react. Surely he would be angry at Remus for hanging around his sister.

"Please, Moony, we promise not to prank her." James whines, and Sirius makes a small noise of disagreement. James glares at him.

"No. No offense, but you're not exactly the type of people she likes to hang around." Remus shovels food into his mouth, eager to get away from this conversation.

"Not the people she likes to hang around? Is she a snob? Is she a prude? Does she hate fun?" Sirius drops his fork, clearly offended. Remus hesitates in his answer, which is definitely the wrong move.

"She is! She does!" James yells, and he ignores the looks of people all around him.

"She is not, and she's fun." Remus grits out, his eyes hard.

"She so is a snob. How could she not like me, I'm a Black?" Sirius stands on the bench and makes hand binoculars, looking around at all the people in the hall.

"You got disowned, Padfoot." James scoffs.

"Look, guys, just drop it. You'll scare her away, and it's not like we're together. We're friends." Remus sighs. James scoffs.

"Sure, that's like saying me and Evans are just friends."

"We're not even friends. I don't like you." Lily butts in, and Sirius guffaws annoyingly. Remus sighs.

"Want to go to the library, Remmy?" Lily asks, a delicate smile on her gentle face. Remus nodded and stood up.

Remus towered over Lily Evans. The only thing she could be described as was petite. She was skinny, had no muscle, and she stood at about 5'4.

"Who is she?" Lily asks. Her green eyes were shining, and Remus groans.

"Not you too, Lils. I can't tell anyone, not yet." Remus runs a hand over his face as they settle on the floor between bookshelves.

"Hmm, it must be bad. Snobbish, wouldn't like James, Sirius, or Peter, very secretive. Oh my goodness, she's a Slytherin." Lily yells, and Madam Pince hushes her. Lily rolls her eyes at the woman.

"Lily! Keep it down." Remus looks around with wide eyes, trying to see if anyone had heard her.

"She is! Oh Rem, who is it?" Lily grins, and Remus regrets his decision to come with her. The boys weren't as smart as Lily, they wouldn't have figured it out.

"Adhara Black." Remus covers his mouth with his hand as he whispers.

"Pardon?"

"Adhara Black." Remus says louder. Lily's face blanches, her green eyes go wide and her mouth hangs open.

"Careful Lily Flower, you'll catch flies." James saunters over to them and shuts her mouth for her. She swats his hand and glares at him.

"What's got you looking like a fish out of water, Evans?" Sirius asks as he settles down next to Remus on the floor.

Lily doesn't answer, she just continues to look between Remus and Sirius with wide eyes.

"Seriously, no pun intended, what's going on?" James asks as he takes a seat next to Lily. She doesn't even bother to scoot away from him she's so shocked.

"Oh Remus.." She whispers. She stands, throws her bag over her shoulder, and marches away.

"What was that all about?" James exclaims quietly. He hated being out of the loop, it was a very James quality, he hated secrets.

"It's probably that time of the month." Sirius mutters, and Remus smacks him lightly on the back of the head.

"I've got to get going." Remus mumbles as he stands, and Sirius grins.

"He's got to get ready for tonight."

"It's not like that, and I'm not going to get ready." He rubs the back of his neck, and both of his friends scoff.

"Moony, no girl invites you to their common room that late unless they want to get laid." James says, and Sirius nods in agreement.

"It's not like that." Remus repeats before taking off, James and Sirius' laughter fading into the distance.

It wasn't like that.

Was it?
