Adhara stood in front of her full body mirror wearing black robes. Her mask was held tightly in her hand as she stared back at herself.
"Adhara, the halfblood is here." Her father walks into her room without a knock. She turns to face him.
Orion Black was calculated. He had not one hair out of place or a wrinkle in his robes, he was perfection. His face was a mask, that expertly hid away all his emotions. But as she looked into his eyes, she saw something.
Adhara saw pride.
Too little too late.
"Right then, I should be on my way." She clears her throat and goes to walk past him.
"Adhara," she stops, "I would like you to know how much satisfaction I feel at you doing this, finally taking your place where you're supposed to."
Adhara wanted to yell, she wanted to tell him how wrong this was. She wanted him to know that this husband and wife didn't deserve to be killed like two common animals, no matter their blood status or their beliefs.
"Thank you, father." She offers up instead, because she cannot let him know how she truly feels.
Severus is waiting at the bottom of the stairs for her, his mask in hand and a solemn look on his face. He didn't say anything as he grabbed her hand and apparated them.
They quickly slid their masks on, and pushed through the almost empty streets of Knockturn Alley. They pulled their hoods down to cover their masks, and kept their heads down. They didn't want anyone to see them before they completed the mission.
The long street of Diagon Alley was bustling with people, and Severus and Adhara bumped into people every few steps. Adhara's stomach was filled with nerves, afraid that she would fail the mission and the dark lord would kill Severus or Regulus.
Regulus had not been assigned a task, though he had been spending much time with the dark lord. They were often holed up in the dining room of Malfoy or Lestrange Manor.
Adhara and Severus stopped as they approached the crowd that stood around where Fletcher Rhine was standing with his wife. They were holding hands on the makeshift stage, and speaking into their wands.
"What is the difference between a muggle and a wizard? Magic is the only thing that separates us. Without our magic, we would all be the same as them." Rhine speaks into his wand, and several people clap in response.
"There is no purer blood than another, there is no superior type of people. Because that is what we all are; people. No one should die because they are viewed as less-"
"Now." Adhara mutters.
"Avada Kedevra." Her and Severus shout at the same time, and both people on stage drop as the green light hits them. Adhara would have preferred not to yell the spell, but it took a lot of power to cast the killing curse.
"Morsmordre." Adhara shouts as she points her wand into the air, her hood falling back. Her hair was tied into a neat braid down her back
"Catch them. Stupefy." Someone yells, and Adhara is quick to cast the protection charm.
All hell breaks loose in the alley, and her and Severus end up separated in the sea of people. Adhara was dueling like her life depended on it; throwing hexes and curses at everyone who came at her.
Just as she was about to curse another person, her mouth faltered in its words.
Remus had his wand pointed at her, James and Peter standing close by his side. The two seemed to be looking around for someone, and Adhara watched as Lily Evans and Marlene McKinnon ran towards James, who stood in front of them protectively.
