The summer passed quickly, and before Adhara knew it, it was August 29th, just days before she returned to school.

She had murdered exactly 27 people during her summer holiday. Severus hadn't taken nearly as many lives as she had, mainly because she tried to kill them before he could. She didn't want him to be plagued with the darkness that came with taking a life, the darkness that had begun settling on her chest like a weight.

Tonight would be their last hunt before summer ended, and a major hunt at that. A whole village of muggleborns, blood traitors, and halfbloods, along with some muggles, and their task was to kill them all.

Adhara and Severus quietly stalked into the heart of town. Candy shops and food stores. It was all going to be rubble by the end of the night.

Adhara's signature had become blowing up the streets, shops, or houses when she killed. It was her mark, and in some way, it brought her satisfaction that she was leaving hints that it was her. She kept telling herself that every time she did it, Remus would know who killed those people. It was her telling him that she was not good enough for him to love her.

"We're supposed to get them afraid. The dark lord says this one must be chaos." Severus mumbles and Adhara rolls her shoulders.

"Then chaos is what he shall have, stand back. Pestis Incendium." Adhara points her wand at the house farthest on the street, and it immediately began to burn up the side.

Adhara and Severus stood idly in the middle of the village, their masks and robes covering their faces. Screams suddenly rang out, signalling that the flames had reached someone's room.

Lights in the houses began to turn on, and Adhara quickly sent up an anti-apparation ward. They would be trapped. It was like throwing a man in with starving dragons.

"I'm going in." Adhara mumbles as she walks inside a house, unlocking it with alohamora. She tiptoed up the stairs and into the master bedroom.

A middle aged woman was asleep, curled in the arms of her husband. They both wore small smiles on their faces, even asleep they were happy.

"Avada Kedavra." She points her wand at the husband first, and with a flash of green, his chest stops rising and falling. Another killing curse leaves his wife the same way.

Both still had small smiles on their faces.

"Bombarda Maxima." Adhara waved her wand as she stood in front of the house. The front exploded with a loud boom, and it caved in. She quickly set it on fire.

Several dead bodies littered the street, and multiple houses and shops had gone up in flames.

"Avada Kedavra." She pointed her wand at a girl, who looked only years older than Adhara herself, and she dropped motionlessly.

"Ten more minutes and the place is going to be nothing but ash and rubble." Severus appears by her side, sending a few of his spells at people. Adhara nods.

"Check the border, we can't have any escapees. I'll finish this off. Go outside the wards and apparate to Lestrange Manor, the dark lord is there waiting for us." She commands, and Severus rushes off with a nod.

She fires several more killing curses, and she tries out Severus' Sectumsempra spell. She had never asked him how he came up with it, or who he had practiced it on.

A woman grabbed at Adhara's ankle as she walked past. She was bleeding heavily from her stomach, and the wound was spreading. Blood was leaking from her mouth, landing on Adhara's shoe.

"P-please. M-m-make it s-stop." She whimpers, and Adhara lets out a choked sigh.

"Avada Kedavra." She whispers, and the woman falls still, the blood still leaking from her wounds and mouth.
