April 5th started off as a perfectly normal day.
It was a Friday, and the whole castle was in good spirits. It was also a full moon, and Adhara knew James was hoping that she would show up at the whomping willow. He had been looking at her with puppy dog eyes all day. She had opted to ignore him.
Her and Severus were sat side by side in potions.
"Did you get a letter?" He whispers quietly, and Adhara tenses.
She had gotten a letter last night, sealed with the Malfoy crest, but it was not a Malfoy who sent it. It was the dark lord.
"You and I are to report to Malfoy Manor immediately after school lets out." She mutters as she eyes the people in the room. Her gaze stops on her brother, who is glaring at Severus.
"I'm going to grab the lacewing flies." Adhara stands and walks to the back of the room. James was back there grabbing ingredients for him and Sirius.
"What are you and Snivellus talking about?" James asks innocently, but his brows are furrowed and his eyes are hard.
"Don't call him that." She snaps, her eyes narrowing at the boy.
"Sorry." He mumbles, but Adhara can tell he's really not sorry. She doesn't address it, but opts to ignore him.
She turns around and scowls when she sees Sirius talking to Severus, a malicious grin on his face. She marches back over to her table.
"Scram, Sirius." She spits. Her harsh tone doesn't faze her brother, he just grins wider.
"Calm down, little sister. Just making friendly conversation." He raises his hands in a surrendering motion.
"When are you ever friendly?" Adhara snarls. Sirius goes to retort, but James walks by and grabs his shoulder, pulling him away.
"What'd he say to you?" Adhara gently asks as she settles back into her seat beside Severus. His eyes were shining, which was odd for him, especially lately.
"Nothing of importance." He waves her off, and she lets it go. If Severus didn't want to talk about it then she couldn't make him. He'd tell her when he was ready.
The class period went smoothly after that, not even Sirius tried to sabotage Severus' potion, which Adhara found odd. It put her slightly on edge.
After class, her and Severus went for a walk on the grounds. They stopped for a moment to look at the whomping willow, per Severus' request. They stared at it for a good few minutes, until Severus began walking again.
They spent the rest of the day in the library, going over homework assignments and talking about possibilities for why they were being summoned to Malfoy Manor.
Her and Severus parted after curfew, where she went to her dorm and he went sneaking out of the common room. She didn't question where he was going.
Adhara went to sleep that night, not a thing on her mind, unknowest that her twin brother was about to risk her best friends life for a prank.

Severus stood outside the whomping willow for a good ten minutes, debating whether this was some stupid prank where Sirius Black was just trying to make him look like an idiot, or if Sirius Black really was telling the truth.
He had wondered what Lupin's secret was since third year. The boy was heavily scarred, and was constantly sick.
Severus picked up a long stick near the tree and prodded the knot on the trunk. Shockingly enough, the tree branches stopped flailing, and Severus' eyes narrowed slightly.
