In most homes, most families, the oldest child carried all the responsibilities. They know pain and sorrow that their younger siblings couldn't imagine, they cleaned up the family messes. They protected, and they sacrificed.
This was not the case in the Black family.
Sirius Black, was the oldest sibling, only by three minutes and seven seconds, but he was still the oldest.
All his responsibilities fell to Adhara, his younger twin sister.
Sirius made messes, Adhara cleaned them up. Sirius wasn't good at school, Adhara excelled. Adhara and Sirius were polar opposites, and Adhara should have been the better pick.
Yet Sirius was always the favorite, destined to be a leader, and heir to the Black family.
And it irked Adhara to the core. She wanted her parents to be proud of her, to tell her good job and that she wasn't an embarrassment to the family.
But it was always Sirius.
Adhara couldn't tell you exactly when her and her twin brother grew apart.
If she had to pick a time, she'd say Christmas break in their first year. He, unlike her, was so happy about everything that was going on at Hogwarts. He was outgoing, and everyone at Hogwarts was talking about him.
But that wasn't necessarily why he was happy, he was happy because he had found friends, people who understood him and people he loved and trusted.
She could tell his favorite was James Potter, and she had grown to despise the boy for taking away her brother, and Sirius' other new friends.
It seemed like Sirius had replaced her, with much more fun people. Sirius no longer needed her, why would he? He had James Potter, Remus Lupin, and Peter Pettigrew.
So during Christmas, Adhara badmouthed James. She called him a blood traitor and many other mean things, she had never seen Sirius so angry in his life.
That's when she'd say their relationship was ripped apart, and it had only gotten worse from there. They tried to ignore each other whenever possible, but if they had to speak, it was like two strangers talking.
So now here she was, the summer before her sixth year. She was sitting at a table with her family, Reg, Sirius, and her parents. Along with her two remaining cousins and her aunt and uncle, along with her two cousins husbands.
The family was quiet as they ate, not many words were ever exchanged amongst the Black family.
"Adhara, I heard you got twelve O.W.L's. It's very impressive." Narcissa smiles at her and Adhara nods and smiles.
"Yes, they weren't nearly as hard as they were made out to be." She responds, and she ignores Sirius' scoff, he had only gotten eight.
"Maybe she will be able to make babies just like that too." Her aunt comments as she pushes around her potatoes.
Both Narcissa and Bellatrix go rigid in their seats. Both of them had been trying to produce an heir recently, and both had failed. Bellatrix had had several miscarriages, and Narcissa couldn't seem to get pregnant.
"Maybe it's all the inbreeding." Sirius mutters loud enough for everyone to hear, and her Aunt Druella gasps.
"You ungrateful little-" she raises her hand to deliver a smack to his face, but Adhara's mother stops her.
"Druella, not at my table." She snaps, and the angry woman sits down reluctantly.
"Sirius, apologize to your aunt." Her mother demands. Sirius rolls his eyes.
