The first day that Amphitrite noticed a change in her husband was when he had come back from his visit to the mortal realm and was in a happy mood. Yet, that was not what made her notice the different behaviour. It was the fact that he had been humming.

Poseidon, the God of the Seas, had been humming.

What a sight it had been, considering the man had not been in such a mood in decades.

But the instances got weirder from there.

He used to stay out more, spending more time away from home, away from Triton.

So, one day she decided to leave Triton incharge and followed her husband.

So, one could imagine her surprise when a beautiful woman opened the door.

The woman was a beauty on her own, Amphitrite had noticed. She had blue eyes, clearer than any quartz, her olive skin glowing golden underneath the sun. Her hair hung like smooth waves down her back.

If she could not sense that the woman was a mortal, she was sure she would have thought the woman to be Goddess.

What surprised her more was when two children had leapt up in the arms of her husband, calling him 'dada'.

It was in that moment that Amphitrite understood the actions of her lover.

Her husband had fathered children, twins, who looked uncannily too much like him.

But all Amphitrite could feel was sadness, for both her husband and the children. They had been born despite the oath Poseidon had taken, and that meant they were not going to lead easy lives.

And, as she looked at the scene in front of her, all she could think was.

Oh, what a tragedy in the making.

Despite her revelation, Amphitrite felt an unexplainable pull towards the children and their mother. So much so that she continued to watch them for a few days before making the decision to confront her husband about them.

They had been eating supper when she had decided to bring up the topic.

"So how are the twins?" She had asked casually, taking a bit out of her chicken.

"They are doing well, they just started to walk the other day, and then the next day, those two were running amok. I swear, Sally is a saint to be able to take care of those two alone. They are more mischievous than Triton and Rhode had been when they were little." Poseidon had said before he realised what his wife had asked.

He stopped eating and looked at her, "You know?"

Amphitrite had just nodded in affirmation, and so had Triton.

It was only a few moments later that Triton had asked when they could meet his siblings that Poseidon looked shocked.

"You never wish to meet any other of my children, why them?" And Amphitrite honestly could not answer without sounding insane, so she just shrugged her shoulders and said because why not.

So Poseidon said he would ask Sally.

And that ended the conversation, before Triton started talking about the classes he was teaching at the school.

It was a few days later that Poseidon told them that Sally allowed them to meet the twins, that the preparations started.

Triton had gone on a mission to find the best presents for his new siblings, making sure they were safe for babies.

Amphitrite had started preparing a little gift basket for Sally, not only as a thank you, but as a way to tell the woman that she was stronger than most of the mortals the Nymph had ever met.

Poseidon had watched all of this in quiet disbelief before he just left it alone, knowing better than to make sense of anything his family does by now. That did not mean he was not nervous.

The two most important women in his life were about to meet, and he had no idea how it would go.

And before he knew it, the day when they would meet had come.

As soon as they had appeared outside Sally's apartment, they had been greeted by the smell of cookies and other baked goods, along with a subtle smell of beef wellington.

Poseidon knocked on the door and waited a moment before Sally opened the door.

Amphitrite cut in front of him and hugged Sally with one arm, the other still holding the gift basket.

Sally looked pleasantly surprised before hugging her back, She looked behind Poseidon to Triton there holding two huge bags full of baby products.

The two parents shared a look before Sally invited them inside, telling them to get comfortable as she brought out the refreshments, which she forbade them to refuse.

As she went to the kitchen, the sound of pitter patter filled the silent atmosphere as two toddlers came racing into the room.

"DADA !" The twins shouted in unison, as they rushed towards Poseidon.

His face bloomed into a breath-taking smile as he picked up his children and spun them around, the house filling with giggles.

"Hello, my little waves. How are you? Did you trouble your mother when I was gone?" The twin fervently shook their head as they denied troubling their mother.

Poseidon just let out a roaring laugh before he turned to introduce them to Amphitrite and Triton.

"Amphitrite, Triton, this is Perseus Adonius Neptune Triton Jackson and Rhea Hestia Cordelia Amphitrite Jackson. Percy, Rhea, this is Amphitrite and Triton. Triton is your brother."

Both Amphitrite and Triton looked shocked and a bit touched at the names of the little twins, before Triton got up to meet them.

Rhea had instantly put up her hands, asking to be held by her brother, and giggling when he took her in his arms.

Amphitrite waited a moment before she went ahead to meet the twins.

The two babies had looked at her and tilted their head in sync, looking adorably and uncannily like a pair of baby sea puppies.

Then in sync, they pointed at her and said, "MAMA AMPHY !"

It was at that moment that the entire sea family knew, Hell or High Water, if anyone hurt one of the twins, they would drown the world to make them feel the fraction of pain they would feel.

And the best part was, they knew that Sally Jackson would be right next to them agreeing to the same.

Oh yes, they were going to get along swimmingly.
