Sally Jackson was pleased to know that, despite being a part of the sea, the twins were quite calm babies.
She wasn't expecting twins, especially not a girl. After all, Poseidon had said that he had never had a demigod daughter, and had lost all hope of ever having one.
Despite the circumstances, she already knew that she loved the both of them unconditionally and would kill anyone for them. Deity or not.
As both of her babies went for washing, the door of the hospital room opened and came in a person that she didn't think she would see.
Poseidon.
"Sally" his deep voice echoed through the room.
A soft smile settled on her face as she brightened.
"Poseidon. I didn't think you could visit." Her voice soft and tired after giving birth.
"I came to see my son."
"Poseidon, there is something you should know."
His face quickly changed from happiness to anxiousness.
"Why? Did something happen? Did he not survive? Did something happen to you? Did someone take him? Oh, I will make the person who took him rue the day they took my son."
Sally watched with amusement as he rambled and paced around the room going over a surprising amount of scenarios and watched as his expression darkened.
Just as she opened her mouth to speak the hospital door opened again, as the doctor came in with the twins cleaned up.
He didn't even blink twice as he saw Poseidon in the room.
"Ms. Jackson, here are the twins all cleaned. It took some time for your son to get quiet but your daughter was easily calmed. I will be leaving you alone. Greetings Lord Poseidon."
And then he turned around and left the room.
By now, Sally was not even surprised that a demigod had helped her give birth to her babies.
Poseidon had been rendered speechless the moment he heard the word twins and his mouth gaped open at the word daughter.
"Poseidon?" Sally asked to see if he was still with her.
Instead of responding, he walked towards the crib where the twins were sleeping cuddling together.
He looked at them like they were the most precious babies in the world. Sally smiled softly, seeing Poseidon looking so in love with someone. And for the first time in a while, he looked completely human. He looked like a father who looked like he had received the best gift the universe could ever give him.
Meanwhile, Poseidon was unable to comprehend anything. He had twins, and a daughter as well.
He had never had a demigod daughter before.
That being said, didn't mean he wasn't shocked to see his son as well.
They both looked so much like him that it was a bit unnerving.
He slowly moved his hand to touch them, like even the most tender touch by him might destroy their innocence. He watched as he touched their heads, how they moved to regain the warmth that was there a moment ago, as he removed it.
"What are their names?" His voice was not above a whisper.
"Perseus Adonius Neptune Triton Jackson and Rhea Hestia Cordelia Amphitrite Jackson."
Poseidon looked at Sally like she had just said that she was a goddess.
He knew the meaning of the names and the significance of them.
Perseus for the only demigod with a happy ending and Rhea for his mother.
Adonius (Hades first name) and Hestia for his favourite siblings.
Neptune and Cordelia as a way of declaring them a part of the sea.
Triton and Amphitrite as a way to honour both of them.
He loved it.
He loved them. He looked towards them again. Only to be surprised to see his son awake and looking at him with the same eyes he had.
He just looked at Poseidon. He tilted his head a bit before turning towards his sister and cuddling more into her (as much as was possible for a baby) and closed his eyes and went back to sleep.
Poseidon could not stop the soft laugh that escaped him.
"I wish I could visit them. Or talk to them without putting them in danger."
"Maybe, you can."
Poseidon looked at the woman he had grown to care for, his eyes looking at her in question at the how.
Sally just smiled in his direction, "The laws say that you can't have contact with or visit your children, but they never said that you cannot visit their mother. You would just have to visit me, and our children just happen to live under the same roof."
Poseidon smiled at her, his eyes glossing with tears.
He would love nothing more than to talk to them but he never found a way, and this Goddess of a woman just offered him a solution that he had spent over a thousand years trying to find.
He can finally be there, he can finally watch his kids grow, and he had this beautiful blue-eyed beauty to thank.
Yes, it seemed that the best person he could have ever chosen to be the mother of his children other than Amphitrite happens to be Sally Jackson.
And thank the fates for that.
