Chapter 1: Injury

I followed Catnap to where the others were. I can't say for sure but I feel slightly disappointed in myself. To think that Catnap and Dogday were able to confess with no problem and here I am, the smartest critter in the group can't get a wink of an idea to confess to that...idiotic but admirable chicken.

"So what were you doing earlier that made you late?" Catnap asked. "Well...I was brainstorming on how I can get my act together and just confess but every idea just turned into a bad outcome," I answered. I can still keep those ideas in my head and see what happens next. "I'm afraid of what will really happen after that. It frustrates me," I ranted. Never knew I could project such strong feelings.

"It seems you are stressing yourself Bubba. It's not good for you," Catnap said. We arrived at the park where the others are playing. "Let's sit by the tree and talk. I need to tell me what really caused you to have feelings for him," Catnap asked. We both walked to the trees and sat down side by side.

"Where should I start?" I asked. "Wherever you want to. There is no rush when explaining your feelings," Catnap said. To be honest, he sounds like a wise old man who's here to explain their life story.

"Well, I could go back to when Kickin came to my house with Hoppy after he injured himself about a year and a half ago," I said.

(A year and half ago)

It was just an ordinary day. I was sitting down reading on my couch.

(knock, knock, knock)

"Hmm, who should that be? I'm expecting anyone," I thought. I closed my book, left it on the couch and went to my front door. I opened it and I saw Hoppy and Kickin but Kickin was really hurt. "HOPPY, WHAT HAPPENED?" I shouted. Kickin could barely stand up and was using Hoppy as his support. "We were playing soccer and Kickin HERE kicked the ball wrong and it twisted his foot. Pretty hilarious if you ask me," Hoppy jokes.

"Shut...up...Hoppy...it's...not...funny," Kickin said. He was in pain, that much is obvious but I had to help him. "Give him to me, Hoppy. I'll treat his leg," I said. Hoppy handed him to me and used my arm to hold on since I am bigger than him in terms of height. "You can go Hoppy," I said. Hoppy nodded and left. I closed my door and we headed towards my couch but I had a different plan.

"Do you mind if I carry you to the couch to ease your pain?" I asked. "Yeah...please," Kickin accepted. I lifted up from the ground and carried him like a baby sleeping on your shoulder. "Actually, I'm taking you to my bed since it will be much easier for you to rest," I said. "Okay," Kickin said. We went upstairs to my bedroom and I laid him on the bed, putting a pillow on his injured foot to keep it elevated and painless.

I was going through the closet, looking for the first aid kit. "Aha, found it," I said. I got up and went to Kickin who was still struggling with the pain. "Your leg is in bad shape and it will take a few weeks to heal. A month tops so you'll stay here with me for the time being until your leg heals up or when you're able to walk a bit so you can return to your house," I said as I was taking out the bandages out of the first aid kit.

I wrapped the bandages around Kickin foot with a tight grip to make sure it heals the right way and the bone will be able to be placed back on its position. "There, it's done. Just rest for now and don't exert much pressure on it or it will worsen," I said. "Thanks Bubba. I'm sorry for taking your time like this," Kickin apologized. "Don't worry about it, Kickin. All I care about is you healing your leg. Now, give me the keys to your house," I said.

"Why?" Kickin asked. "I need to get you a set of clothes. You need a bath cause you stink my friend," I said politely. "Oh, I'm sorry dude, here," Kickin said. He hands me the keys to his house. "I'll be back. Stay here and don't do anything reckless," I said. "Don't worry about it. I'll be fine," Kickin said. "I'm serious Kickin. I have known you since forever. So I know you'll do something stupid," I said sternly.
