Chapter 4: Deja Vu

I went back to sleep for what felt like an hour and a half. As I woke up, I was still in Bubba's arms which felt a lot more comfortable than before. "This...feels...cool. I guess being with him isn't bad but I still need time to figure it out," I thought. I lifted my feathery arms and held on to his cheek. "His face feels soft-ish," I thought. I kept exploring his face, feeling it more and more and I can feel my face getting more hot. I'm surprised that wasn't waking up with me grabbing his whole face.

I was then feeling a bit hungry and knowing that my leg is injured, I can't go do it by myself. I had to wake Bubba up so I poke his face and he woke up. "Oh, good morning Kiki, did you sleep well?" He asked. God, it is so adorable of the way he asked me. "Yeah..um...I'm kinda hungry and you know I can't do it by myself soooo...," I said. He realized what I said. He got up and took me to the bathroom so we could wash our teeth and headed downstairs. With all honesty, I felt very comfortable with him carrying me around his house. And this will keep going until I'm able to walk again.

(Back to the present)

"And we kept doing all that for a month until I was able to walk again," I said. Both Catnap and Dogday look at each other and then look back at me. "Well that was certainly interesting," Catnap said. "It is but I can certainly say that Bubba does have a crush on you. Why else would he cuddle with you that night? Not to mention you did say that you guys kept doing it for the month you stayed with Bubba," Dogday said. "I guess you're right but how do I explain it to him? I suck at these things," I asked.

"We don't know Kickin? We're not the ones who are confessing to him, you are. Only you can tell him," Catnap said. I sighed deeply, feeling hopeless as none of them would help me. Catnap walked closer to me, "Look, you can't keep these feelings to yourself. One day when you have confidence, you'll be able to tell Bubba how you feel, okay," Catnap reassured. "Thanks Catnap and you too Dogday," I said. I left to the front door, "I'll see you both tomorrow," I said. They both waved at me as I left their front porch and headed to my home.

I walked into my bedroom and rammed my body into my bed. I keep having images of Bubba and me and all the things we've done in one whole entire month. It was fun and I kinda miss it. No offense, I like hanging out with Hoppy. She's very fun and entertaining whenever we play soccer or any other sport but I kinda miss hanging out with Bubba. Hopefully someday we'll hang out like last time.

"I hope so. Tomorrow is another day," I thought as I drifted off to sleep.

Catnap

After Kickin left Dogday's house I look back at Dogday giving him a mischievous smile. "I guess I am gay," I joked. I chuckled under my breath while Dogday was giving me an unamused face. "It's not funny Catnap," Dogday whined. "But it is. The way he just realized that he is gay in the middle of a cuddle is funny," I said. "But that happened to us didn't it?" Dogday said. I stopped laughing, realizing the irony I have put on myself. "Oh...I guess it's ironic," I said. "It is but are we really letting Kickin do this by himself?" Dogday asked.

"We have to Sunshine. We need to leave him so he can have confidence to confess to Bubba," I said. "Okay Moonshine," Dogday said. "Thanks Sunshine, now what do you want to eat tonight?" I asked. "Surprise me," Dogday said. "Okay, I'll get right on it," I said. I went to the kitchen and went right away to work.

(The next morning)

"Another drowsy morning," I thought. I got up and went to the kitchen to make my usual breakfast. Didn't feel like cooking so I only ate cereal. Not the most interesting breakfast but it was something. "Imma head to the park and see if the rest of the critters are there," I thought. I went outside to the park and no one was there.

Well, almost no one. Bubba was doing his usual routine. Reading early in the morning, under the tree where the park is. "Since he's the only one here, I might as well talk to him," I thought. I walked up to him and he looked at me. "Good morning Kiki, did you sleep well?" He asked. "Yep, I sure did. How about you?" I asked. "I slept a good amount. Gotta have enough rest for the day, am I right," he said. "You know you're always right," I said.

"I do, I just want someone to agree with me," he said. "It's impossible to disagree with you Bubbs," I said. I sat down beside him to see what he was reading. "Is that the book Catnap gifted you?" I asked. "Yeah, it's really interesting that this is the third time I'm reading it," Bubba nodded. "Haha, you're such a nerd Bubbs," I joked.

"Oh shut up Kiki. You used to read with me when you stayed at my house for a month," Bubba responded. "Yeah because I was bored," I exclaimed. "But you did enjoyed it, didn't you?" He asked. "I'll admit I did, but only a few books and then I annoyed the heck out of you," I joked. "I'm still mad at you for dropping me in the bathtub, WHILE YOU WERE IN THERE! I was about to see something I didn't want to see," Bubba cried.

"Oh come on man, I was just playing with you. I wanted you to have fun as much as I had fun. Even if it means to embarrass you," I said. "You're lucky you're my best friend or else I would throw you up this tree," Bubba threatened. "Awww, I'm your best friend. Thank you Bubbs," I said. "Pfff hehe, you play too much Kiki," Bubba laughed. It was nice hearing the big guy laugh. "YOOO! BUBBA, KICKIN!" Someone was yelling in the distance. It was Hoppy and the rest of the critters were behind her.

I got up and ran to Hoppy. "Yoo, what's up Hoppy?" I asked. "Me and the others, except for Catnap, want to play soccer. You want in?" Hoppy offered. "You know sure as heck I would," I said enthusiastically.

Bubba Bubbaphant

I watched as Kiki and Hoppy were talking. Hoppy was holding a soccer ball while Catnap came up to me. "Morning Bubba," Catnap said. "Morning Catnap. Did you sleep well enough?" I asked. "Dogday made sure I sleep enough but as always, I'm tired no matter how much sleep I get," Catnap answered. "Well your name is Catnap so I wouldn't be surprised if your daily routine is to nap everyday even if you sleep enough," I said.

"Yeah, you're right but still, I want to feel a bit energetic enough for the day," Catnap said. "Don't force yourself for that Catnap. If you're tired then you're tired. There's nothing wrong with that," I said truthfully. "Thanks Bu...,"

"AHHHHHHH!" We both heard yelling at the directions where the other critters are. We got up and ran to see what happened. Dogday, Bobby and Hoppy were all standing while looking down at something on the ground. The critter on the ground was Kiki but he is acting differently. Me and Catnap had reached the others, "What's going on?" I asked. "See for yourself," Hoppy said. I looked down to see Kiki holding his leg as it was swollen with its bone dislocated.

"He broke his leg again," I said. "Yep," Hoppy answered. "Now I'm getting Deja Vu all over again," I said. "A...Are y...you g...going to h...help me or what?" Kickin stuttered. "Yeah, yeah, come here you big baby," I joked. I grabbed him, picking him up in arms like a baby. "I'll take him home, everyone. You guys can continue playing," I said. We took off and headed to the tree to pick up my book.

We left the park while I was still holding Kiki around my arms. "How did this happen Kiki?" I asked. "I stepped on Hoppy's leg while trying to take the ball away from her and I landed my foot wrong causing it to bend and now here I am," Kiki explained. "(Sighs) What am I going to do with you?" I said. "Take care of me and my leg. That's what you're going to do," Kiki said. "I have no choice I guess. One month with you once again," I said. "I bet it will be more fun than last time," Kiki said.

"Who knows, maybe it will," I said.
