Chapter 6: Blanket

We arrived at the downstairs living room. I placed Kiki on the couch carefully so as not to react to his injury. "Stay here, I'll be back," I told Kiki. He nodded and I left him alone. I opened the front door and Dogday and Catnap were there. "Oh, hey guys. What are you doing here?" I asked. They looked at each other and looked back at me. "There's been weird stuff that's been happening in our homes," Catnap answered.

"Ahh I see. Come on and explain to me," I invited. It was no surprise that they were going to ask me. There has been some strange occurrence that happened over the past years since we, other than Catnap and Dogday, have experienced. I led them to the living room where Kiki was sitting down on the couch. "Dogday, Catnap, what's going on?" Kiki asked in a jock -like voice. "They are here to ask about this world," I answered. Kiki shuffled his head in a confusing manner. "Huh?" He questioned.

"You know, when this place randomly has all of our stuff even from back at the facility," I blurted out. "Ohh, that. Yeah, my skateboard from the facility was in my closet. It was an exact replica of it. It's almost creepy," Kiki said. We all sat down on the floor so Kiki could have the couch for himself because of his condition. "Okay, so what objects have been appearing from your house?" I asked.

They both looked at each other figuring who was going to start. "Maybe the time where my fridge has a never ending supply of food not that I am complaining of course but it feels like someone has broken into our houses just leaving these things in our home," Catnap said. "For me was the amount of blankets, sleeping bags and pillows with all of your pendant collars on it with your fur color," Dogday said. "Also not to mention that there was a blanket of my pendant and Dogday's pendant on it on the day me and him started dating. It's like this universe was trying to tell me that I was meant to be with Dogday. Not that I am complaining of course. I'm just weirded out by it," Catnap said.

Interestingly, it seems like both are experiencing paranoia and don't feel safe around their homes without feeling that someone is watching them. "I'm 100% it's nothing guys. This world was mainly built just for us, well as far as I know of," I admitted. "What do you mean by that?" Catnap asked. "I always feel like there are more toys around here but I didn't want to go and find out," I said. "Why didn't you?" Dogday asked. I looked at him a bit annoyed but not wanting him to get upset. Thankfully he got the gist of it. "Oh...yeah sorry about that," Dogday apologized. "It's fine, don't worry about it. Now back to what I was saying to you Catnap, this world is built for us so we're most likely to live in harmony and have an endless amount of food like any cartoon does. Cartoons always have food and other essentials with no limit so there are things you might find so I wouldn't worry about," I answered honestly.

They both looked relieved and I was relieved as well. But I remembered what Catnap said earlier about blankets. "Hey Catnap," I called out. "Hmm," Catnap said. "You said that there was a blanket with yours and Dogday's pendant on it right?" I asked. "Yeah," Catnap confirmed. "And it was on the day the both of you started to date right?" I asked again. He nodded once again. "Was it there earlier or you didn't even notice?" I asked.

"I...I actually don't know. I've never thought of it," Catnap said. "Hmm, this world seems to know who's love interest is who based the appearance of a blanket with our pendant on it. Wait...wouldn't that mean." I stood up and left the living room in a hurry but not fast enough for the others to hear this. "KEEP AN EYE ON KICKIN," I yelled as I ran upstairs.

I arrived at my room and headed straight to the closet with a complete stop. I just looked at my closet door, feeling very anxious about what's behind these doors. "If it's here then I might be able to confess much sooner than later," I thought. I grabbed the closet handle but it still closed as I breathed in and out as a flair and of a dramatic effect. "Okay here goes," I thought. I opened the closet and looked through every corner to see a glimpse of any light blue or yellow colored blanket. Nothing.

I sticked my hand on where the top shelf is to see if I can feel anything. "Just a little further...nothing I guess. Just keep looking Bubba, maybe it is...".

I stopped thinking midway as I felt a soft fabric on my hand. "Could it be?" I questioned. I grabbed whatever was in my hand and took it out of my closet. It was a folded blanket with baby blue and yellow colors. "Now to see if our pendants are here," I thought. I unfolded the blanket completely and there it was. My light bulb pendant and an orange star shape on it. I could feel my cheeks glowing red and a growing smile on my face. I hugged the blanket gleefully. "Catnap was right. The universe is trying to get us to be together. I couldn't ask for a better life," I thought. I pulled the blanket away to see it one more time. "I should put this away before Kiki might get curious to look at the closet but where should I put it?" I asked myself.

I looked around the bedroom until I set my eyes on one spot. "Under the bed where it should go. Thankfully this place is clean every single day," I thought. I went to my bed and placed my body on the floor to hide the blanket. "This is the last place Kiki will search since he cannot lay down on the floor without someone helping him out," I thought. I knew it was a smart decision to put the blanket under my bed but I had another thought. "Maybe Dogday and Catnap should see this." I left the blanket on my bed and left my room, going downstairs to the living room. "What happen Bubbs? Is everything alright?" Kiki asked.

"I'll explain later Kiki. For now, I need Dogday and Catnap to follow me if that's okay with you both," I said. Dogday and Catnap looked at me confused, "What for?" Dogday asked. "You'll see," I said.

"Stay here Kiki, I'll be back soon. I won't take long," I said. "You're treating me like a baby Bubbs," Kiki complained. "Well, you are the baby here since you can't walk," I joked. "YOU LITTLE," Kiki shouted. Both Catnap and Dogday laughed at my joke and Kiki stood there red around his yellow chicken face by embarrassment. "Alright, alright. Enough jokes now. Are you both ready?" I asked Catnap and Dogday. They both nodded and off we went to my room.

"So what do you need from us?" Catnap asked. "There is something I want to show you both," I said. We arrived at my room, "Look at my bed," I said. They looked at my bed and saw the blanket on my bed. They came closer to the blanket. "Bubba...does it...", Dogday stopped. I nodded in agreement and unfolded the blanket which revealed both mine and Kiki's pendant. "So this means...that Kickin truly has feelings for you," Catnap said. "Yeah...I'll confess to him by the end of the week or maybe tomorrow. I don't but I know it will be soon," I said.

"Well, it looks like you have nothing to worry about. Now that you see that this blanket is living proof of both of your feelings then I'm positive that both of you will have a healthy relationship," Catnap said. "Speaking about the blanket, where is ours Catnap?" Dogday asked. "Oh it's being washed because it was wet by the rain and because it was on the dirt so it had to be cleaned," Catnap answered.

"Good...Hey Bubba," Dogday said. "Yeah Dogday," I said. "Do you mind if the rest of the gang comes to hang out in your house?" Dogday asked. "You mean like another sleepover?" I asked. "Yeah but we won't do anything too physical since Kickin is injured. I'll bring my consoles and board games and the sleeping bags for the others," Dogday planned. "Sure, I don't mind. As long as Kiki doesn't get bored," I said. "Great, then it is decided," Catnap said.

"Well we should head downstairs. Kiki has been waiting long enough," I said. They both nodded in agreement and we headed downstairs.
