Nature

I trust you enough
To place a knife into your hands
Look directly into my eyes
Don't break the stare
Overwhelmed by every emotion
Can you feel the love that I have for you?
Your hands are steady
Warm and strong
Your grip around the handle is natural
As if you've been here before
You plant a kiss on my forehead
My eyes now fill with tears
They stream down my neck
Burning like acid on my skin
If I had any final words
It would be "I love you"
Incapable of speaking them
Afraid to break the silence
Your face is empty
I cannot read you at all
I place my delicate hands upon your chest
In hopes of feeling your heart
The beat is ethereal
Even in a moment like this
You retain a godlike calm
My lips feel sewn shut
Trembling and sore
As I find the courage to speak the words
I feel the knife press deeper into my skin
The pressure from the blade is against my chest
I fail to hide every thought
Without even speaking
You can read my mind
The silence is deafening
Not even a breath breaks the void
Unable to let the air escape my lungs
"I love you"
The blade pierces flesh
Blood pools around our feet
I'm sorry my love
I wish there could've been more time
I'll miss seeing you're face in the rising sun
But this is just my nature
It hurts me more than you could know
Better to hurt you before you can hurt me
It's just the way love goes.
I watch as the light fades from your eyes
Finally a glimpse of emotion is shown from you
A tear falls from your face
The knife no longer in your grip
Maybe in another life I'll see you
Perhaps we could work out then
But not in this world
You were a god
I'm just a pathetic human
