Narrator POV:
Madi hears noises in the background and opens her eyes. With blurry vision, she sees a white woman with black hair staring at her without blinking.
"What the hell, who are you?" Madi hears laughter in the background and gets up from the bed she was on, seeing her friend in a prison uniform on the floor, sprawled out.
"Welcome to jail. The police threw you two in here earlier." Madi looks the girl up and down, now analyzing her better; she was pretty but a little strange.
"I knew that bitch was fake." Madi puts her hands on her head, irritated, remembering the blonde from the night before.
"There's no use crying over spilled milk now. Chuck managed to escape in time; at least that useless guy will handle this." The Bass girl doesn't even have time to respond when she hears a noise at the cell bars. She looks and sees the famous Archibald with another police officer.
"Enough talking, follow me." The guy is rigid, and the girls are forced to comply. After being handcuffed, they are pulled towards a room, and upon entering, Madi recognizes one of the people there; it was the blonde from the previous night.
Before she can think of anything, the guy throws her into a chair in front of a woman with a badge attached to her shirt that reads "Chief." It seems the interrogation was about to begin.
"So, you're the famous Madison Bass we managed to catch last night. And you are Hillary Topper, daughter of the late Ruschel, who worked for Bart." The chief had an arrogant smile on her lips that Madi wanted to wipe off with a punch.
"Let's get straight to the point." Hillary says, annoyed by the mention of her father.
"Well, you surely know Howard Archibald. He was recently killed by accident." The blonde stands up and starts talking.
"The bomb was meant for me, it was at my house." Nate, who was leaning against the wall, speaks up without taking his eyes off Madi.
"My condolences for the really sad story, but I think we can agree I had nothing to do with it." Madi looks at the blonde in front of her, wanting to finish the business from last night.
"On the contrary, not only do I think so, but I'm certain your father tried to kill me. A while back, I started investigating him because my father was being threatened by him." Madi places her hands on the chair and leans her head back, feigning interest.
"Oh really? And did you find anything?"
"Actually, yes. A woman named Elizabeth Fisher was killed, and everything indicates Bart Bass was involved. Does that name ring a bell?"
"Fuck." Hillary's eyes widen, and she looks at her friend, who looks apprehensive. He wouldn't do that, would he?
"We know about your father's many crimes, Madison, and you can help us. How far would he go for power and sheer whim?" A brunette with a similar appearance to the chief speaks up.
"Look, my father might be many things in this life, but he wouldn't kill one of his own, especially not his wife."
"She's right. Bart isn't capable of that, and for God's sake, he didn't kill Howard. That was pathetic; only a rookie would miss the person they wanted to kill. And why are we in jail?"
"For illegal racing. Nate, take them back to their cell." Eleanor orders, and the guy promptly obeys.
When everyone left, leaving only Blair and Eleanor alone, the brunette runs her hands through her hair and sighs, nervous. "If it continues like this, we won't get anywhere."
