Narrator's POV:

"We're running out of time, we need to move this money as soon as possible..." Madi listened closely to what Ander was saying to Bart. He had mentioned a job she had to do, but so far, he hadn't said what it was, so all she could do was wait.

"Hey, you're coming with me." Carla came down the stairs, shaking a set of keys. Madi glanced at Bart, who motioned for her to follow the blonde.

"Where are we going?" Bass asked, buckling her seatbelt.

"First, we'll wait for our teammate, then I'll explain everything." Madison stayed silent, already expecting Andi, but she was surprised when Camila opened the back door.

"What the hell is th..."

Blair's POV:

At that moment, we were all on our way to Hudson. The car I was in was dead silent, with only Chuck, Hillary, George, and my mother inside.

Suddenly, the car in front of us slammed on the brakes, causing a crash that made everyone lose balance.

"What the hell?" Hillary asked, looking ahead. I followed her gaze and noticed smoke in front of us.

"Ambush!" Chuck and Hillary exchanged looks and grabbed two guns. Everything happened so fast. Shots started flying in our direction. Hillary opened the door and crouched down as she got out. She positioned herself and fired a shot straight into a guy's head, who dropped his gun as he fell.

I snapped out of the shock and got out of the car too, hiding behind Chuck's vehicle. Looking to my side, I saw the rest of the group taking cover and trying to return fire.

"WHAT THE HELL IS CARTER DOING?" Hillary yelled.

"Take this, throw it at them!" Georgina shouted, tossing me a grenade. I caught it, activated the explosive, and hurled it with all my strength, taking out several men who were closing in.

Narrator's POV:

Amid the chaos, the grenade provided a much-needed distraction. The group was too focused on the assault to notice Carter sneaking around behind them, heading straight for Elizabeth.

She was hiding with Jack, who got hit in the head and collapsed. When Elizabeth saw him drop, her eyes widened, and she tried to run, but one of Carter's men cornered her, leaving her with no way out.

Carter whistled, and a helicopter appeared, drawing the group's attention as they tried to shoot at it. But Carter, always the smarter one, grabbed the helicopter ladder and threw a smoke grenade, disorienting the group with the blinding light and loud noise.

Madison's POV:

I couldn't even look at Camila. She sat in front of me with a guilty expression. I don't think she even expected me to find out about her betrayal that way.

"Look, Madi..."

"Don't talk to me, Camila." I tried to end the conversation, but it seemed like she wasn't giving up so easily.

"I had to do it, Madi. I owe a massive debt to Rufus and his family..."

"You do realize that Rufus is in Ander's hands, right?" I asked, curious. Now I was really intrigued. Either she was a terrible liar, or the Rosons weren't telling their team everything.

"What?" Before Camila could bombard me with questions, Carla returned. She had stepped out to grab something from a diner along the road.

"You two sorted it out?" Carla asked with a grin. I looked ahead, spotting a bathroom, and decided to improvise an escape.

"Carla, I need to use the bathroom."

"To escape? I know you, Madison Bass."

"I'm serious, Carla. I really have to go." I channeled all my acting skills, and Camila glanced at Carla.

"If you want, I can stand by the bathroom door." I tried not to widen my eyes in surprise, as it was obvious I was acting, and it seemed like she just wanted to help.

"Fine, but only five minutes, no more." I nodded, and Camila followed me to the bathroom door. She grabbed my arm before I went in.

"Madi, be careful." With her final words, I pulled free of her grip and searched for a window to escape.

Narrator's POV:

The group was sticking to the plan. Now one member short, they were forced to stop at a local garage, as Carter and his buddies had slashed several of their tires.

"Hey, everyone, look at this!" Serena called out, drawing the group's attention to a TV showing reporters talking to Louis Grimaldi about an explosion earlier at the police station.

"I didn't want to worry my parents more, but I have to say something." The guy looked tense, glancing between the camera and his parents, who watched him with curiosity.

"Say what?" The reporter asked, pushing the microphone closer.

"That the explosion was entirely the fault of Deputy Eleanor Waldorf. She made some inmates work with the police, and they used the opportunity to nearly kill 19 officers." His tone was so serious, with tears streaming down his face, that anyone could easily believe him.

"What the hell?" Eleanor gasped, covering her mouth.

The reporter looked stunned as she continued questioning. "Do you know the names of the inmates?"

"Of course, of course. On behalf of all the Grimaldis, I'm calling for a search warrant for Madison Bass, Chuck Bass, Hillary Topper, Fred and George Weasley, and, of course, Eleanor Waldorf." Blair glanced at her mother, worried. The walls were closing in. Suddenly, everyone's phones buzzed. Hillary grabbed Georgina's phone and checked the screen, showing all the names Louis had mentioned, with a higher bounty than Eleanor had promised them.

"We need to get out of here." Fred said to the group, who began looking around as the people in the garage started eyeing them suspiciously.

"Hey, man, thanks for the tires. We're kind of in a rush, excuse us." Fred tried to be polite to the garage owner, who was holding a crowbar.

"You're not going anywhere." The man said sternly, and Chuck, without thinking twice, grabbed a bottle, smashed it, and held a sharp piece of glass.

"We'll see about that."

...

Madi ran without looking back. She had no idea where she was or where she was going, but by now, Carla had probably realized she was gone. She collided with a tall, bald man, who stared at her seriously before softening when he saw how anxious she looked.

"Hey, are you alright?" Madi had run so much, and it had been hours since she last ate. Like a magnet, she collapsed into the man's arms, who caught her with concern.
