Madison POV:

I take a deep breath before entering the establishment and open the door, making the little bell ring. I glance to the side and there she was; nothing had changed, yet she still seemed different.

"Carla."

"I thought this moment would take longer. Why did you call me?" The blonde is direct; she knew me well, after all.

"Have you ordered? I'm starving." I sit down in front of her and look at her, as she looks at me, smiling.

"I remember when we were dating. You used to wake up with an appetite... though it wasn't for food." I ignore her comment and call the waitress.

"Good morning, what can I get you?"

"Good morning, I'll have an espresso and two cookies to go, please." Carla looks at me curiously.

"And I'll just have an orange juice, thanks." The waitress notes down the orders and waves. "Looks like you don't plan to stay long."

"The cookies aren't for me." I say simply, wanting to end the topic as quickly as possible.

"Are they for one of your mistresses? Hillary doesn't like sweets in the morning; Chuck eats at least three or four of those; the twins, don't even get me started."

"Carla, I didn't come here to talk about my relationships with you, not to mention it's none of your business. Does your father have any involvement with Rufus Humphrey?"

"You know he doesn't talk to me about his business. The one who knows about those things is Ander..."

"Is Teo in town?"

"Why do you want to know? You're not planning to ask for my hand from him, are you?" Carla laughs, and I struggle not to roll my eyes; she's so irritating.

"Just answer me, Carla." Carla stands up from her seat and sits beside me, placing her hand on my thigh.

"Why don't we talk about something more interesting, like us."

"Carla, I..." For a moment, I look outside and spot Blair getting out of the car through the window, and I panic. What is she doing?

"Are you with someone else?" I feel a squeeze on my thigh and snap back to reality. I see the marks of Carla's nails on my skin and get up quickly.

"I have to go." I grab my wallet and take out enough money to cover my order and Carla's.

"Madi, wait, stay a little longer." I ignore the blonde and leave the establishment as Blair stops me midway.

"You took your time."

"Shut up and let's go, there's nothing for us here." I grab the girl's arm and head towards the car, back to square one.

"Ouch, you're hurting me. Let go."

"Why didn't you wait for me in the car?" I let Blair go, who gets into the car with a sour face.

"I already said, you took too long." I hold back an eye roll and hand her the package.

"What's this?" She takes it, confused.

"Open and see." Blair opens the package and takes out the cookie, putting the other one back in the wrapper.

"Thanks."

"You don't need to thank me. I didn't get anything from Carla, we'll have to move to plan B."

"And what's plan B?"
