(Even if no one ends up reading this I'm just giddy to have something more fun to write after work)
I could just leave. Double Trouble thought boredly.
It was not fun to wait for Adora's visits. The waiting game was less and less thrilling with every hour that Double Trouble spent in solitary confinement. When she was there, Adora made the perfect audience. Maybe she was laying on her adoration a bit thickly, but it was flattering to know how completely they had her fooled.Thump thump stomp.
Double Trouble's eyelids flickered briefly as the sound of rushing steps approached the room. They maintained their form as Catra perfectly while the doors swung open, revealing a tired and on-edge looking Adora. The girl had obviously been fighting. Double Trouble grinned; it was the perfect time to mess with her.
"Princess! You look... Disheveled." They teased, standing up and pressing their hands against the barrier that held them in one area.
Adora snatched the wand from its stand and poked the barrier without caution. The cell fizzled away and Adora placed the staff back on its stand. Double Trouble stepped towards Adora and was startled as the girl fell into their arms.
"Adora?" They shook the princess lightly before carefully crouching down with her.
"The battle went badly. Glimmer wants me to interrogate you. She says she'll do it herself if I can't get anything useful." Adora let the words tumble out in a rush.
Adora sat up on her own and looked Double Trouble in the eyes.
"Even if you have to make something up... please, help me out here."This was not good. Double Trouble may have had more insight on both sides of the war than most Etherians would, but they didn't exactly know of anything useful. They would have to stall for time.
"You know I can't just tell you the Horde's secrets." They said, pulling their hands away from Adora.
"That's what I was afraid of." Adora mumbled.
"I can't lie to her, either. She's going to question you.""And... How does she expect to get anything out of me?" Double Trouble demanded.
"She's been practicing her magic with Shadow Weaver. Glimmer can cast a truth spell on you and ask you anything she wants." Adora explained.
That's troubling.
Double Trouble felt their stomach drop.A spell like that could undo everything. Double Trouble might have to admit that they weren't actually Catra. Should they just change back now and save the trouble? No, that wasn't an option. They would have to brave this as long as they could.
"She can try." They finally said.
Double Trouble put a hand under Adora's chin and tilted her head up to meet their eyes again.
"You shouldn't look so glum about this. Don't you want to know my secrets, too?" They inquired.
Adora looked rather flustered but she answered with a stammer.
"Glimmer wants y-you out of the Castle. That's the o-other thing."Double Trouble frowned slightly.
"Already? I haven't gotten to sleep on your bed yet."Adora yelped and reeled away, knocking her head clumsily into the marble stand that held the barrier's staff. She rubbed the back of her skull and glared at Catra.
"You can't take anything seriously, can you?" Adora growled.
Double Trouble's grin returned.
"Tell you what. If you promise to let me stay in your room instead, I can tell you one thing."
