Chapter 103: Is it the end?

„Hello, do you have any explosive cakes?", Tomoka asked one of shop assistants.

„I am not sure what you mean."

„Ah, we mean something with those little balls, which crack on the tongue."

„Oh... sorry, but we don't have such a cakes here, but maybe you can try one of shops in Chuo."

„Sure... thanks."

„You see Arisa... even fate is against us giving that bastard any gifts."

„Mmm... but I still want to choose something."

We were walking around the place until Tomoka suddenly spotted something.

„We can give him a hat."

„A hat? Umm... wait... I wanted to ask for a long time... is your father a boss of Mafia?"

„He is rich, employs many people, but I wouldn't say, that he is related to any mafia. I was once in a training in one of his other companies and no one talked about him as a boss. So I would say whatever he does, it is nothing shady."

„Oh... okay."

(Or maybe he just managed to hide it well from Tomoka's sight.)

„Arisa! Follow me!"

Tomoka entered nearby crosswalk while pointing at a shop on the other side of the road. But suddenly a white truck appeared out of nowhere and...

„Tomokaaaa!"

My mind suddenly stopped. The car was about to crash into her and I was not able to move. It was approximately just two meters away from her. Maybe if I jump there, I could still manage to pull her back.

(Why are we in such a situation now? What shall I do to save her?)

(Everything was so nice recently... and now what? Is it going to end?)

I looked around and realized, that it is not just my mind what stopped... the whole world around us was not moving.

(But why am I the only one who can?)

No, I was wrong... all I could do was moving my head. When I tried to run toward Tomoka, my legs were frozen. It was impossible to move them even by just one millimeter.

(Is it some evil prank by gods? Will I have to watch her death in slow motion unable to even move? Nooooo! I don't want her to die!)

Suddenly a screen window appeared before my eyes.

(Huh?!)

„(Choose your destiny!)"

(Am I in a dream? Did I fall asleep in our car while Tomoka is still driving?)

(What is this screen? Why it appeared here? Was I kidnapped again and put into some kind of a virtual reality?)

There was just this one question, but suddenly also one option appeared.

„(1... Do nothing and let Tomoka die.)"

(What is this? Let her die? What option is that? It has number 1... so are more options going to appear?)

Nothing appeared for a while and I started to panic. How could I let her die? How would I be able to live without her? I... living without her is worse than dying myself.

Immediately after that, another line appeared below the first one.

„(2... Jump ahead and push Tomoka away... and die instead of her.)"

This option is better... but I am not sure what Tomoka would think. No I am sure... she would think the same way as me and would rather sacrifice herself then be watching my death. None of these options are any good...

(Any good? This whole situation is like a nightmare.)

Suddenly one more option appeared on the screen.

„(3... Jump ahead and die together with Tomoka.)"

(Heh.)

Now I got the best one of them... dying together. Who made these options? All of them are insane... absolutely... absolutely unacceptable! We want to live! Give us an option where we can live, together!

I was waiting for a while, but the screen didn't change... until about a minute later.

„(Choose now! The countdown starts now. If you do not choose, the first option will be chosen automatically.)"

(Are you kidding me?! If I don't decide to kill one of us or both, Tomoka will die?)

„(0:59... 0:58... 0:57...)"

I had just a minute to decide our fate. But what was there to decide? All the options meant the same! Living or dying without her was impossible.

(If we can't live together, then we will at least die together!)

And so I chose the option number 3. In that moment my legs moved and I appeared just next to Tomoka. From that place I was able to look directly into face of the driver and recognized him right away.

(Why? What a joke is this?)
