By the time the Saurian Hunter arrives at the expected meeting place, the sun has gradually set in the horizon, painting the sky some warmth of dusky pinks and yellows. A soft sigh falls from your lips, and it is as if that one sound pushing away all your worries has caused nature to awaken from its slumber. The petals from the tree that you're resting on perform a quick dance, flying around you for a moment before moving in the distance.

Even the simplicities of nature has brought up your mood a bit.

"Hey, (Y/N)."

You lift your head and peer down upon hearing a familiar voice calling your name. Immediately, your face lights up as you wave in excitement, your legs swaying back and forth to match with your sudden mood change. "Kini!"

As a reflexive response, he extends his arms out toward you. A disapproving expression is present as he crosses his arms shortly after and heaves a jaded sigh.

"Careful. You don't want to fall off the tree again, do you?" he reminds.

Ajaw, the bright yellow companion floating beside your friend, chimes in, "I told you already, with how fragile and stupid they are, you should be charging a lot for saving them! You'll be filthy rich!"

"Ignore him. Just climb down here," Kinich urges, moving toward the tree as you oblige, making sure to take your time under his intense, watchful gaze.

Once you have a small part of the bark left, you launch yourself off and onto the grass, stumbling into his chest a bit. The male sighs, his hands steadying you by the shoulders, as Ajaw starts laughing in a mocking way, a string of insults directed toward you—the typical "unbelievably stupid" and "pathetic mortal" comments.

Ajaw's laughter eventually dies down. "Man, seriously, Kinich! I don't know what you see in that mortal. What makes them so special that you'd do something like cancel your commission? Don't tell me... aww, you have a—mmfph?!"

Although his words got interrupted by a gloved hand, your mind is focused on the first part. You tilt your head at the blue black-haired male, your lips parted to tell him that he didn't have to do what he did, but seeing that you're about to say something, he clears his throat.

"He misunderstood," Kinich begins, "I suppose the almighty dragonlord who claims he is always correct, well... we can see how false that is." He removes his hand just in time for the creature's face to turn orange, his mouth opened in a zig-zag manner.

"Why, you little...!" Ajaw growls. "And how disrespectful, covering my mouth to hinder me from my speech!"

Your friend turns away from the fuming guy, leaving him to complain to the air. "About that commission," he explains, "I happened to have a sudden errand to run while heading to our meeting place, so I asked the person if I could postpone to complete the commission later in the night. He was fine with it."

Well, that's good. You're glad he didn't cancel a commission just because of you. While you expected for him to meet up with you after he was done with his jobs and is readily available, which is what he has always done, this is definitely the first time he ever postponed one. Perhaps it's because this is your first time requesting to spend some more time with him as you two only meet once a week to properly hang out and go to places.

So to receive news of you asking to see him again during the week must have been quite a surprise.

"Postponing the commission would make things much more convenient since I completed my errand and am now meeting up with you. Same direction," he adds on.

Kinich flickers his gaze to you, recognizing that dazed look you have whenever you're contemplating about something in particular for a while. He runs a hand through his hair. When he received your letter asking to meet up, he figured you needed something. Though you appear normal so far, acting as your usual clumsy and nonchalant self, he senses something a bit off.

His thoughts break when he feels his fingers getting tugged on, and before he knows it, he's now getting dragged to a nearby crystal lake with a streaming waterfall. Ajaw easily follows after you two, evidently annoyed due to his mutterings and grumbles.

"Ugh, can't believe you would allow yourself to get bossed around by a puny mortal."

A peaceful scenery with someone you cherish by your side... you can already feel your body gradually relaxing. The cold water tickles your feet, and you can't help the small smile as Kinich slowly sits down beside you, one leg propped up and an arm resting over it. Wordlessly, he stares off into the distance, glancing at you every once in a while.

You seem... content.

And he doesn't realize how long his gaze has been lingering on you, until his vision gets filled up by the familiar features he has come to appreciate: those softened eyes, wriggling nose, and smiling lips. Despite your close proximity, he doesn't budge, his heart fluttering slightly.

What is he expecting, anyway? He should move away before the air gets too suffocating.

"Kini, thank you for being here."

But your gentle voice reaching his ears causes him to stop. His serious expression unwavering, he carefully watches as you brush a finger against his cheek. Your touch, so faint, yet igniting a burning sensation that keeps him desiring more.

Kinich can feel himself starting to drown in your affection; the longer he looks into those eyes of yours and experience your touches, the deeper he's falling. Unconsciously, he leans into your warm palm that is now holding onto his cheek in such a loving manner.

Splash!

He blinks a few times, feeling as if he just woke up from a long slumber. Once he finally adjusts to his surroundings, he notices you laughing, your hand raised in the air. There are some water droplets dripping down, and suddenly, he can now feel those same drops on his face.

The Saurian Hunter faintly smirks as he pushes himself to his feet, pulling off one glove as he soaks his hand in the water. His attention remains on you even as you run away, your laughter fading in the background.

"You have a price to pay, (Y/N). Don't run from me."
