Eyes sweeping the vibrant place, you see a certain gray-haired male leaning against a pillar near a stall selling sundry fruits and vegetables. He meets your gaze and waves you over.

Your face lights up as you approach him, the requested book gripped in your hands.

Although the only reason why you're meeting with Alhaitham is to give him the book he asked for, any moment where you're able to talk and see him face-to-face means a lot and makes your heart soar every time.

Unfortunately, every meet up is the same: a quick, one minute conversation (if you can even consider it as such), a thank you, and a farewell before he leaves with the item. You would always watch his departing figure, waiting until you can no longer decipher the gray and green.

Then you'll walk back to the academy, continuing your studies with a heavy heart. Among all the information scribbled in your mind from years of researching and reading papers and books, your crush is floating somewhere between the complex words...

And he has been the primary subject of interest that you want to study.

What does he enjoy doing? Where are his favorite places to relax at? Does he favor curry, or perhaps taking pleasant strolls through the city, taking a browse at the various stalls? Why is he always so serious, no other emotion present? What is his past like, his struggles?

"Are you lost in thought again?"

His deep voice and something brushing against your nose startles you, breaking your thoughts. You blink and rub at your nose just as he pulls his hand away.

Sheepishly, you hand him the book and smile. "Sorry, Alhaitham. I was just thinking about my research."

"I understand; it must be stressful and exhausting to deal with. I'm available for any assistance that you may need."

"Oh...! Um, thank you..."

"It's only fair since you've been helping me get these items."

Sadly, this is the part where he says he has to leave, and the next time you'll see him is in exactly two weeks. For some reason, he schedules to meet up at the same day, same place, and same time no matter the weather. You've met up in pouring rain before too.

Despite all your efforts to keep the papers dry from the rain, he simply held them out in the open while talking to you without a care for the drenched papers. You've thought about it for a while, but never bothered asking him his reasons for needing all these research-based materials.

Should you ask now? Surprisingly, he isn't leaving yet. He's just observing the sea of people moving around and happily talking to one another.

"Um... Alhaitham?" you murmur.

He flickers his green gaze to you and hums in response.

With a moment of hesitation, you ask, "So why do you need all of these books and papers? I've tried to connect the materials together, but the topics are all so varied and clearly different from each other."

You could've sworn you saw a faint smirk, but it was so quick and barely noticeable that you couldn't process it in time. Now you're pouting and wishing to see a clear smirk written across Alhaitham's face.

Once again, you feel the familiar brushing against your nose.

The male turns away and looks at you from over his shoulder. He raises the book in the air. "Thank you again. I'll take my leave now."

"S-See you in two weeks! Same place and time?" you call out.

He faces you. "You must be eagerly waiting for me. Why is that?" he asks.

Your heart beats faster at your embarrassing desperation. It doesn't help that he's asking such a question with the usual serious voice and blank expression. So as an immediate response, you deny everything frantically, fumbling with your hands and shifting your feet.

"Relax. I also look forward to meeting you again, (Y/N)."

I headcanon Alhaitham as the type to easily know when you like him, but he pretends he doesn't and takes the time to make you do a bunch of things for him (that he doesn't actually care for) just to subtly tease you because he secretly thinks you're cute.
