After squeezing as much water as he can from his clothing and hair, he lowers his head and aggressively shakes his whole body, the water droplets flying everywhere. "Ahhh, all better!" he says in satisfaction, wiping some rain off his face before heading inside the apartment complex.

He makes sure to dry his wet shoes onto the black mat thoroughly, glancing around the front lobby area. The receptionist working the evening shift politely smiles and greets him, "Welcome home, Mr. Lyney."

Home. Hearing that familiar word always seems to brighten his mood up, even during the most difficult days. Prior to this place, Rainbow Rose Gardens, his sole home and comfort was with Father, Lynette, Freminet, and the other children. He never imagined himself moving out and away from his loved ones, so when the thought crossed his mind briefly, he couldn't help but discuss about his feelings to them. Father insisted this will be a positive change as it is a new environment, new potential relationships, and new growth as a magician.

And she wasn't incorrect.

For the past 3 years of living in this new area, Lyney has formed new relationships and performed numerous magic shows to magic lovers and those curious on what it's all about. His reviews have been soaring with impressed viewers, their eagerness evident in their words and the way their wide eyes follow his every movement on stage.

Of course, he cannot forget about his own hometown, so he makes sure to visit and perform at least two shows per month. If the distance from here to there is closer, he would definitely be increasing his magic shows. There's a lingering pain whenever he has to part ways from everyone, especially the kids who cling onto his legs, begging for him to stay longer or to move back home.

Lyney heaves a jaded sigh and runs his fingers through his damp hair, shaking his head. Those around him often describe the magician as "cheerful and optimistic", as "seeing the bright and beautiful things in life". Unfortunately though, some days he has difficulty in controlling the dark thoughts and emotions, and before he knows it, they have already contaminated his heart and mind.

Just like... now.

The keys jingle as he opens the front door quietly. Compared to the well lit hallway, inside is dark, which is unusual. He hums in curiosity and slight concern, closing the door behind him and swinging his lanyard around his finger, the keys clinking.

"(Y/N), are you ho—woah?!"

Turning around, he realizes he tripped over a medium-sized plushie of himself in chibi form. "Geez, what are you doing here, little guy? (Y/N) isn't taking good care of you, hm?" He reaches down to pick the toy up, dusting it off, and faces forward again to turn on the light. "Wah?!" he shouts, almost falling backward.

"Welcome home!" you exclaim, throwing colorful confetti in the air. Perhaps you should've selected a more... less suspicious outfit. Seeing a person in a black hood and cape in a dark room can easily startle someone, possibly even trigger a flight or fight response.

And well... you would prefer not to have your own boyfriend fight you.

Lyney breathes a sigh of relief, a hand over his heart. "I was wondering why the lights are off. Trying to spook me at this time is quite evil of you, y'know." He clicks his tongue and smiles, leaning close to your face. "Or... oh? Do you have some other... intimate intentions for the evening?"

Your heart flutters as you flick his forehead, causing him to move away and whine, rubbing at the area you just flicked. Before he can do or say anything else, you quickly continue with the plan you have been working on perfecting for the past week or so.

"Shush and watch me, okay?" You hold up a hand toward him, silently showing proof that your palm is empty, and just as you're about to close it, you feel some warmth.

Is he giving you a high five? Seems like it at first, but then he laces his fingers with yours, holding onto your hand with a grin. "Sorry, sorry! I just can't help myself; when I see your hand, I just want to envelop it with mine. Plus, my cold hand needs some warmth, hehe."

"Lyney!"

"Okay, alright! You get my full attention with no further distractions, starting..." he trails off, squeezing your hand a final time, "...now. I'm all yours."

This guy... you smile helplessly and discreetly reach within your cape, where you have attached some props around your waist with a black belt. See, the reason why this suspicious black cape, paired with the dark room, is important is so you can hide any mistakes that may occur during the magic show. After grabbing the necessary item, you quickly do some exaggerative hand movements to distract his attention for a moment, and then you reach behind his ear to pull out a rainbow rose.

"Bam! For you." You present the flower for him as he gently takes it, twirling the stem around his fingers with an amused expression, his head tilted slightly.

Then you reach down once more to hold onto his favorite candies. Because this larger item with its colorful packaging and crinkling sounds is harder to hide, you reach out to poke him on his side, asking him "wait, what's that?" in the most surprised way possible. He looks down and off to the side, and so you take the chance to do some more dramatic hand movements before shaking the bag in front of him.

"My favorite candies too? You are spoiling me too much."

And as a grand finale, you spin around and fling your cape up slightly, your hand discreetly reaching down to click on the mini remote's button. With a snap of your fingers, colorful, slowly flickering lights turn on. Lyney's eyes widen as he looks around the space before focusing on you once more, his gaze softened.

"Oh my, my. Look at my dear apprentice, already close to surpassing me. Have you been watching your Master closely?" he teases, rubbing your cheek with his thumb in a loving way.

You nod, explaining to him your true intentions for tonight. The male often puts on small magic shows for you whenever you're feeling under the weather, so in return, you wanted to practice some simple tricks to host a show for him too. You've been noticing some changes in his demeanor for the past two weeks; even as he does his best to conceal his emotions, you already caught on after some time.

Hearing your explanation melts Lyney's heart. The last thing he wants is to worry you and anyone else he cherishes. Even though the magic acts were noticeable, as in, he easily saw the items and the way you reached within the cape's darkness, the thought itself is sweet and considerate.

This is just another simple reminder of how much he adores you and how lucky he is to have you in his life.

To your surprise, your boyfriend plops onto the swivel chair and pulls you down into his lap, the two of you spinning around for a bit. With your legs on either side of him, hands around his neck, you watch as he gives a kiss on your nose, laughing softly, squeezing your waist a bit.

He hums in thought, his fingers slowly tracing your features. "I already feel much better with all of my favorites with me—this rainbow rose, this bag of candies, this plushie of me, and... most of all, you." His fingers brush against your lips, his voice low.

The distance closes as warmth immediately washes over you, your eyes fluttering closed while he kisses you in a slow and careful manner. He moves away shortly after, teasingly giving you quick pecks instead, from your lips to your face. You hold onto his shirt tightly, flustered, shifting in his lap a bit. Your sudden movement makes him laugh in a breathy manner, a smirk written across his face.

His eyes sparkle with amusement and one hand moves up to rest behind your neck, rubbing at it slowly. "How about you be good and sit still in my lap while I give you thank you kisses?"

Well, this evening will certainly be magical... magically sweet with cute kisses, of course.
