Chester

"Will I ever be able to meet this Maxxie you speak so fondly of?"
Dariya asked as Chester told her about his plans with Maxxie while wolfing down his cheese bagel she'd made for him.
"Uhh.. yeah maybe one day, when you stop embarrassing me"
Chester laughed as Dariya pushed his head away jestingly.
"I'm all good with those plans but text me if you're not gonna be home tonight"
Dariya demanded and Chester agreed before going to get ready.

He looked through his wardrobe for a lot longer than he should've done, longer than he had for his day out mini golfing, or his date with Lizzy. He struggled choosing an outfit, he wanted to impress Maxxie, for some reason. Maxxies outfits always looked cool. Chester wanted his to look just as cool.

He pulled out a long sleeved navy tshirt with buttons at the top and a small knitted design of a family of ducks at the front, topping it with an oversized dark green jacket with far too many pockets, but he knew Maxxies favourite colour was dark green so he went with it. He put on light blue washed baggy jeans and his every day superstars. He grabbed his black and grey striped scarf and put it limply around his neck before grabbing his bag and making his way to the living room for Griff, who had planned to pick Chester up from his house.
He waited for the honk for a matter of minutes before Chester yelled a quick goodbye to his sister and raced out the door, Maxxie, Alex and Hugh were in the car waiting for him. Hugh sat in the front, Alex on the far right side and Maxxie in the middle, leaving a space next to him for Chester.

"Hey!"
Chester smiled as he buckled up his seatbelt.
"Hey moonface"
Maxxie grinned back.
"Oh, I got something for you"
Maxxie informed, picking his bag up from the floor of the car, Chester watched suspiciously as Maxxie pulled out a beanie that matched his dark green one, in Chester's favourite colour. Greyish, but more on the blue side.

Maxxie placed it over Chester's wild curls and smiled.
"Perfect"
Chester's cheeks warmed despite the cold nipping at him from the October air.
'California Dreamin' by The Mamas & The Papas played through the radio in Griffs rustic car as they made their way to the pumpkin patch.

Maxxie

The pumpkin patch didn't have many visitors, per usual, so the group of teens quickly started choosing out the best ones. Maxxie helped Chester pick out some good ones, which seemed harder than it should've been because Chester was extremely bad at picking out good pumpkins and Maxxie was extremely picky.

"Nope. Not orange enough"
"Nope. Too square"
"Definitely not, jeez that looks more like a Sasquatch than a pumpkin"

Eventually, after what felt like forever, they'd rounded up all the pumpkins they'd need into a wheelbarrow and Griff paid the farmer as the kids stacked them into the trunk of the car.

Despite it being cold, wet and ridiculously hard work, they'd all had the time of their lives. It didn't matter the circumstances, any time they spent together was spent having fun. They lived like there was no tomorrow. Cracking jokes and messing around in the fields as they searched for the best of the best.

They quickly made their way back to the Ferguson household, where Maxxies dad and the rest of the people living there were already setting everything up.
It wasn't a particularly nice looking house, it was practically falling down and the walls seemed to be covered in overgrown plants, but Chester loved it nonetheless. Wherever Maxxie was, he liked.
