Maxxie

"We got the gig!"
Maxxie cheered as he entered the music room, turning to his friends as he interrupted his music teacher.
"Sit down Maxxie"
Mr Magaña instructed with a sigh, Maxxie turned to him with an apologetic smile before clumsily making his way to sit with the rest of his band.

"I sent in a few videos Christian had gotten of us performing at Rockabilly, sent them in and I just got a text back saying they'd be more than happy to let us perform"
Maxxie explained as he struggled to his seat.

"No shit. When?"
Jade smiled, leaning in closer to get the details from Maxxie.
"Uhh.. our slot is from 6:30 to 10:30 on the.. 17th of December, the day we leave school for Christmas break"
Maxxie gushed, over the moon about the opportunity.

The rest of the band raved about it too.
"Wait, we need a band name so they can obviously put up the sign"
Hugh reminded as the rest of the band mates realised too.

The band spent almost all of the lesson discussing band names, each of them trying to include their names in it somehow, which didn't seem to work, it needed to be something that meant something.

"What about the leftovers?"
Hugh suggested, the whole band looked at him skeptically as he continued.

"Well.. you know, because everyone always throws their leftovers at us, we are all kind of the leftovers of our school. Most of the kids in this school have either had sex, done drugs, been arrested or have their license, and were stuck using the train and are going to be virgins for the rest of our lives. Plus, Maxxie was literally thrown in the trash, with all the leftovers"
Maxxie nudged Hugh's arm in embarrassment, to stop him from saying anything else.

"I like it"
Maxxie smiled, the rest of the band agreed so Maxxie texted the Shout House back, informing them on what to put on the big light up sign outside.

"Our big break has officially begun, my friends, get excited"
Maxxie smiled as he picked himself up, getting his bag as Hugh followed suite, the two walked out of the classroom with a huge smile on their faces.

Nothing could ruin today.

Chester

"Moony!"
Maxxie shouted from the other end of the halls at his best friend, who quickly turned at the sound of his voice, smiling as soon as Maxxie was in sight, he was smiling from ear to ear as he practically bounced to Chester.

"Someone's in a good mood"
The brunette chuckled as he saw Maxxies large smile.
"Hell yeah I am, you wanna know why?"
Maxxie asked, not letting Chester reply before he blurted out the great news.
"Me and the band got a gig at the Shout House! And of course, I will get you tickets. Front row and centre"
Maxxie couldn't wipe the smile of his face, making Chester's stomach burn with butterflies made of fire.

"That's awesome freckles, I'm so proud of you! I'll be there, no question"
Chester matched the boys energy, embracing the boy in a tight hug. Maxxie hugged the boy back, taking in the warmth of Chester's body as the homely scent of honeycomb flooded his mind.

"Oh! I've got great news too!"
Chester quickly released the boy from the hug as he took his bag off one shoulder, setting it up on his knee as he opened up the front pocket.
