Aurelia's room was a treasure trove of memories.
Old photos, stuffed animals, and keepsakes from childhood filled every corner. Aurelia and Anastasia were sitting cross-legged on the floor, surrounded by a mountain of nostalgic items they had pulled out of storage boxes.
"Look at this one," Aurelia said, holding up a photo of the two of them from kindergarten. They were wearing matching outfits and grinning widely at the camera, faces smudged with face paint from a school carnival.
Anastasia laughed. "Oh my gosh, we were so cute! And those outfits – what were our moms thinking?"
Aurelia giggled. "Fashion icons, clearly."
They continued to sift through the box, laughing at old toys and embarrassing pictures. Suddenly, there was a soft thud at the window.
Both girls turned just in time to see Walker climbing through.
"Walker!" Aurelia exclaimed, her face lighting up. "What are you doing?"
Walker landed gracefully on the floor, brushing off his pants. "The front door was too mainstream," he said with a grin.
Anastasia raised an eyebrow and side-eyed Aurelia. "Uh-huh. Sure. Makes perfect sense."
Aurelia blushed slightly but laughed it off. "Whatever, Walker. Next time use the door."
Walker plopped down next to them, grabbing a stuffed animal and inspecting it. "What are you guys up to?"
"Just going through old stuff," Anastasia replied. "It's like a trip down memory lane."
Walker picked up an old photo album. "Mind if I join?"
"Of course not," Aurelia said, scooting over to make room. "We were just looking at old photos."
Anastasia, still smirking, reached into one of the boxes and pulled out a small, battered diary. "Ooh, what's this? Aurelia's old diary?"
Aurelia's eyes widened. "Oh no, not that. Please."
But Anastasia had already opened it.
"Dear Diary,
today was the best day ever because me and walker got to watch big Adam and big Laura kiss and walker was so embarrassed He's so cute... not in that way ! I mean it diary stop judging me .
-Aurelia fisher "
Walker burst out laughing, his face turning slightly pink. "Wow, Aurelia, I'm honored."
Aurelia covered her face with her hands. "Oh my god, this is so embarrassing."
Anastasia grinned. "No way, this is gold. Let's read more!"
They spent the next few minutes reading out loud from Aurelia's diary, laughing at her childhood crushes and silly thoughts. Walker looked at her with a mix of amusement and affection, clearly enjoying every second.
Suddenly, the opening notes of Taylor Swift's "So High School" began playing from Aurelia's playlist. She glanced at Walker, who immediately grinned.
"This is our jam," Walker said, nudging Aurelia.
"Absolutely," Aurelia agreed, standing up and offering her hand to Walker.
They began singing along to the song, their voices blending together harmoniously. Walker twirled Aurelia around the room, both of them laughing and enjoying the moment. Anastasia, unable to resist, grabbed her phone and started recording.
"You guys are too cute," Anastasia teased, still recording. "This is definitely going on my channel."
Aurelia and Walker continued to sing, their voices filling the room with the lyrics of nostalgia and high school memories. The playful teasing from Anastasia, the laughter, and the music made the moment feel almost magical. As the song reached its chorus, Walker dipped Aurelia dramatically, making her giggle.
"Walker, you're ridiculous!" she exclaimed, still laughing as he pulled her back up.
"And you love it," Walker replied with a wink.
Aurelia's heart fluttered at the playful look in his eyes. She glanced at Anastasia, who was watching them with a knowing smile. Anastasia mouthed, "Told you," making Aurelia roll her eyes but smile nonetheless.
As the song came to an end, Walker and Aurelia found themselves standing close, faces inches apart. The room fell silent except for the sound of their breathing. For a moment, it felt like they were the only two people in the world.
Anastasia cleared her throat, breaking the spell. "Okay, lovebirds. What's next on our trip down memory lane?"
Walker and Aurelia stepped back, both blushing slightly. "Uh, how about we look at some more photos?" Aurelia suggested, trying to cover her embarrassment.
Anastasia grinned, clearly enjoying their discomfort. "Sure, let's do that."
They spent the next hour sifting through more boxes, finding old report cards, drawings, and mementos from school projects. Each item brought back a flood of memories, and they took turns sharing stories and laughing at their younger selves.
Eventually, they found a stack of old yearbooks. Anastasia flipped through one, stopping at a page with a class photo. "Look at us," she said, pointing to their younger selves. "We were so dorky."
Aurelia leaned over her shoulder to look. "Speak for yourself. I was adorable."
Walker snorted. "Yeah, sure you were."
Anastasia pointed to a note scribbled in the margins of one page. "Remember this? We used to write notes to each other in our kindergarten yearbooks."
Aurelia smiled, reading the note. "Dear Aurelia, never change. You're the best friend ever. Don't forget me ever . Love, Anastasia."
Aurelia got a different book out and started scrumming through the pages " ah ha ! Look this is me and walker on the first day of filming the Adam project awwww"
" omg close that !my teeth are so - bunny " Walker Smiled hiding his face in Aurelia's shoulder
Anastasia cleared her throat. "Okay, enough with the sap. Let's make some new memories."
Aurelia nodded. "Agreed. How about a movie marathon?"
Walker grinned. "Sounds perfect."
They spent the rest of the evening watching old movies, reminiscing, and creating new memories to add to their ever-growing collection. And as the night drew to a close, Aurelia couldn't help but feel grateful for the friends who had been with her through it all.
