Walker decided to take the plunge and confess his feelings to Aurelia.
He texted her earlier in the day, asking if she wanted to go for a walk on the beach later that evening. She had agreed, and now, as the sun began to set, they were strolling along the shoreline, the gentle waves lapping at their feet.
The beach was almost deserted, the only sounds were the distant calls of seagulls and the rhythmic crash of the waves. The sky was painted in hues of pink and orange, creating a perfect, serene backdrop.
"This is beautiful," Aurelia said, her voice soft as she looked out at the horizon.
"It really is," Walker agreed, his heart pounding. He took a deep breath, trying to steady his nerves. "Aurelia, there's something I've been meaning to talk to you about."
Aurelia turned to him, her green eyes curious. "What is it?"
Walker stopped walking and faced her, his expression earnest. "I've been thinking a lot about us, and about how much you mean to me. You're not just a friend, Aurelia. You're... you're so much more to me."
Aurelia's eyes widened slightly, a mix of surprise and anticipation in her gaze. "Walker..."
He took her hands in his, his touch gentle but firm. "I know this might come as a surprise, but I have to be honest. I have feelings for you, Aurelia. I've had them for a while now, and I couldn't keep it to myself any longer. You're amazing, and being around you makes everything better. I... I really like you."
Aurelia's breath caught in her throat, her heart racing. She had suspected, but hearing it from Walker himself made her emotions surge. "Walker, I... I don't know what to say."
Walker's heart sank slightly, but he kept his gaze steady. "You don't have to say anything right now. I just needed you to know how I feel."
Aurelia stepped closer, her eyes shining with unshed tears. "Walker, I... I like you too. I've felt the same way, but I was afraid to say anything. I didn't want to ruin what we have."
A look of pure relief and joy spread across Walker's face. "You do?"
She nodded, a soft smile playing on her lips. "Yes, I do."
Without another word, Walker closed the distance between them, cupping her face in his hands. He leaned in slowly, giving her plenty of time to pull away if she wanted to. But she didn't. Instead, she leaned in as well, their lips meeting in a gentle, tender kiss.
The world seemed to disappear around them, the only thing that mattered was the feeling of their lips pressed together, the warmth of the moment enveloping them both. It was a kiss filled with the promise of something new and beautiful.
When they finally pulled away, they were both breathless, their foreheads resting against each other's. Aurelia's eyes sparkled with happiness. "That was..."
"Nice," Walker finished for her, his voice a soft whisper.
She nodded, her smile widening. "Ya."
They continued their walk along the beach, their hands intertwined, talking and laughing about everything and nothing. The confession had brought them even closer, and they both knew that this was just the beginning of something truly special.
