In the Throne Room

"So, we've come to a decision then, yes?" Marcus asks his brothers sternly.

"Yes, indeed we have. Skyla will not be punished for her actions. Every one of our kind, that she killed, were breaking our laws. They were punishable by death; she simply did our job for us. Though I do think it is time we have a proper introduction from our mate, don't you agree brothers?" Aro asks while glancing at each of the other kings.

"Agreed. We are done here, let us go to her. I'm sure she is beating herself up about this, I can feel her sorrow through the bond" Caius says softly with a frown.

"I feel it too but there's something else, the bonds seem to be fading slightly, stretching even" Marcus says in confusion as he looks down at the floor.

"What does that mean brother? Let me see" Aro demands before placing his hand on Marcus'.

His eyes zone out for a few moments while he investigates the other kings' thoughts. Once done, he lets out an unnecessary gasp.

"Oh my, it seems as though our mate is getting further away but how could that be?" He questions in concern as he looks off to the door in thought.

As if the answer to all his questions, Heidi walks through the door with a bright smile on her face.

"I heard you mention your mate, what about her? I just spoke to her not even a few minutes ago" she states while looking at Aro in confusion.

He immediately appears in front of her and extends his hand which she gladly takes. He zones out as he reads through her thoughts before finding the ones with his mate.

"Oh my, those marks aren't from her childhood. Marcus, did you allow our beloved to go to her car, alone?" he asks while looking at Marcus accusingly.

"What? I wasn't even the last one with her, Caius was with her all day until the trials" he states in defense.

"Why would she lie and how are we sure she is still in the castle?" Caius quickly asks, sounding hurt.

They all exchange a look before quickly speeding into her room. They look around for her but to no avail. That's when Caius notices his shirt, folded neatly on the bed, next to a piece of paper with their names on it.

"No, no, no, no!" Marcus yells as he reads the letter.

The other kings read it over his shoulder, both staring at it in shock. Caius' eyes blaze with fury as he takes a deep breath and punches the closest thing to him. The wall immediately gives way under his fist, leaving a large hole in it.

"Demetri, Felix, Jane, Alec, come here, now!" Aro demands.

They all show up in front of them within an instant. They look over at Marcus who clings to the paper like his life depends on it, his eyes filling with venom tears.

He quickly stands as his face becomes drained of emotion, "You will find her immediately or so help me, I will personally ensure that all of you feel the pain I am feeling".

Their expressions all fill with fear as they bow quickly, "Yes master".

All of them quickly leave the room, except Demetri.

"I can track her, there's nothing blocking it. I'll have her back to you all as soon as possible" he reassures them before disappearing.

Caius breathes deeply in attempt to calm his rage as he crawls into her bed and hold her blankets close to his chest. He inhales her scent from them and growls softly. Marcus lays beside him and holds one of her pillows as he re-reads the note she left. Aro remains a broken shell of his former self as he sits on the edge of the bed.
