My Last Breath (Volturi kings)

TWELVE.

"New rules? So, there is a punishment?" I ask with a frown.

"I wouldn't consider it a punishment bellissima. It's more of an upgrade from your past rules here" Marcus says with an amused chuckle.

I stare at them in confusion which only seems to increase their amusement.

"You may leave the room and explore the castle at any time as long as you're accompanied by a guard. BUT, you cannot leave the building unless you are accompanied by one of us. You may attend trials, but we ask that you leave the executions to us, not only for your safety but for the sake of the law. You must tell me any time you have a vision and lastly, we ask that you allow us to take you on dates when possible" Aro states with a slight smile at the last part.

So, I get to do basically anything I want AND I get to go on dates for the first time in my life? I think I'd be insane if I disagreed with my new "rules".

"You've never been on a date before cara?" Aro asks while looking bewildered.

"Aro please, you can't keep sharing my secrets out loud" I say with a groan of embarrassment as I turn on my side and bury my face against Caius' stomach.

They all chuckle before Aro releases my hands as to stop reading my thoughts.

"Oh, there is one more thing. I know you remain at least partially doubtful of our control with humans so I would like you to meet some people. I believe they will be the best at explaining our desire for blood and how to control it. On top of that, a few of them have similar abilities so I am hoping they will be willing to train you. I will have to request their presence and see if they can make the time but I'm sure with a bit of encouragement, they would be delighted"

A shiver runs through my spine as I ponder what his version of encouragement is. Who could these people be, how do they know them, and what makes them so different from the Volturi? I decide to ignore the interrogation of questions that threaten to spill from my lips.

"When do you think they will arrive?" I ask curiously.

"As I said, I have not asked them yet, but I am hopeful it will be within the next few days" Aro states with a slight look of distaste.

His slight look of disgust when speaking of these people only strengthens my curiosity about their relationship. Breaking me from my thought, a small yawn escapes my lips as I rest my head back down on Caius' lap.

"It is becoming late Tesoro, perhaps it is time for you to sleep" Marcus suggests.

"But I just got home! I want to be with you for at least a little bit" I say with a slight pout.

The three kings beam with happiness, probably at the fact I called this place home.

"I know bellissima but we have things to do, and you must be rested for them" Caius says with his smug smirk.

"Like whatt?" I say with a small whine.

"Well for starters, we have to go grocery shopping tomorrow. Plus, since the Olympic Coven may have some members arriving soon, I want you fully rested and being careful around them" Caius states with a slight scoff at the mention of these people.

"Do you not trust them?" I ask hesitantly.

The brothers exchange a look before Caius replies "Not fully. They're just not very fond of us and the feeling is mutual, they always find ways to work around our laws and we do not appreciate that".

I nod slightly while taking in their information.

"Fine, but can you guys stay with me while I sleep?" I ask while begging with my eyes.
