"Ah there you are, I've been looking everywhere for you! I just couldn't help myself any longer" he speaks with a thick accent, but I can't quite put my finger on which one it is.

"Excuse me but, who are you?" I ask sternly as I cross my arms over my chest.

"Oh, come on. I thought you would be smarter than that. After all, Vladimir has spoken so much about your incredible knowledge" he says in a low yet taunting tone.

Wait, that accent, and that name. That's when it hits me, he's a Romanian. Not just any Romanian either, this has to be one of THE Romanians.

"Let me guess, Stefan?" I ask with a knowing tone and a raised eyebrow.

"Well, of course" he states cockishly as I have to refrain from rolling my eyes.

"Well then, what do you want? Surely you know the Volturi is hot on your ass, here to turn yourself in?"

"That would be quite pathetic of me, would it not?"

"That it would be. If you're not here for that, then what?" I ask curiously as my eyes drift to my bed, knowing my katana is hidden under my pillow.

"Well, Vladimir instructed me to check on you, ensure you were still living. You've caused quite a mess for us, sent us back on the run, yet he still wants you alive. It's quite infuriating really" he states menacingly while slowly walking around me.

"Why? Why does he care if I'm alive?"

"I would love to say he doesn't, only desiring to know if the threat is gone, but that would be a lie. He hasn't even told me why, just that you matter to him. His own brother, yet he can't be fully truthful to me. Do you understand how that feels?" he asks with an obvious faux look of hurt.

"I'd love to say I do, but I don't. Do you want to know why I can't relate? Because he took the one person that I was closest to, ripped her away from me" I state coldly as I start slowly circling around him instead, trying to make my way to my bed.

"That's what we do. Humans are nothing but food to us, I'm sure she was no different, unimportant" he spats at me.

"You know nothing about her, nothing" I state through gritted teeth.

"Perhaps that is true, but only because my brother is too entertained with you to give me even a second of his time. I was to check on you and return to him with an update, but I don't think I'll be doing that. The Italian scum took my mate over a thousand years ago, and every day I long for revenge. We used to search high and low for their weakness, but they never had one, until now. You are the key to the fall of the Volturi"

I slowly back up closer to my bed as I reach a hand out and slide it closer to my pillow. He slowly steps closer, closing in on me.

"My brother will be unhappy with my killing you, but I just can't stand to see our enemies happy any longer. This is for my mate, you Italian bastards" he whispers threateningly as I reach under my pillow and finally grasp the handle of my katana.

I rip it out from underneath the pillow but am unfortunately too late as the man grabs me in a firm hold and sinks his teeth into my neck.

In the Throne Room

"Mother apparently had a lovely time with Caius and certainly had a great time with Alec and I. She is currently in her room, probably preparing to rest for the night" Jane informs as she extends her hand to Aro.

He smiles and greedily takes it to see his mate in her thoughts. Upon finishing his investigation, he pulls away with an even wider smile before sitting back down on his throne.
