Vivianne strolled homeward, her brother beside her. Their steps echoed through the crisp autumn leaves, creating a symphony of crunching underfoot.

"I mean seriously, how foolish can one be?" Vivianne stomped, Intensifying the already loud crunching noise.

"I'm glad you've found someone more foolish than you." Henry smiled, unmistakably mocking her sister.

Vivianne rolled her eyes and kept on stomping.

"I did not hear him, so he called me a 'mindless girl' in front of everyone," her voice rose in anger, "I mean, I am not to blame for his incomprehensible way of speaking!"

"To speak fairly, he did speak pretty loud. Your hearing is just not so good. With all seriousness." Her brother replied.

Vivianne wanted to roll her eyes or snap back, since she was used to getting insulted by her brother, but she knew he was right.

Vivianne had always loved music. Ever since she could remember, actually. She had spent her whole life playing various instruments and following everywhere she heard a tune. And unfortunately, it had also damaged her ears. She grew up to be the annoying girl who would keep on asking what you said. If she still didn't hear you she would just smile and nod, hoping it was something positive. If it wasn't, it was embarrassing only for Vivianne.

"It is of no matter, though. I assure you no one remembers that." Henry said, trying to keep up with her sister.

"I do so hope you're right. Thank you." Vivianne sighed and slowed down, noticing her fast tempo.

"Besides finding mr. Phillips 'foolish', what do you think of others?" Her brother asked her, finally being able to walk next her.

"Well, I loved meeting the girls! Almost all of them, but especially Diana!" Vivianne smiled, remembering the encounter she had with said girls.

"I'm glad you made some friends. Diana seems nice."

"She seems nice, huh?" Vivianne nudged her brother and raised her eyebrows.

"Don't even think about it." Henry chuckled and shook his head.

"I won't, I won't," the girl replied, "but I can put a good word in if you want me to."

"I mean... if you want to."

Vivianne chuckled and shook her head. She was glad to hear that someone caught her brother's eye. And even more glad that it was Diana. Not some rude girl, like Josie Pye.

"What do you think of the others?" Vivianne looked at her brother.

"I get on well with all the boys. Even with Billy, but he doesn't know I'm only pretending to be nice to him, in order to avoid any complications," Henry explained, "I like Gilbert. He's funny and nice."

Vivianne's pace slowed down at the mention of the boy.

"He seemed... nice... I suppose." She shrugged and furrowed her eyebrows.

"You suppose?" Henry asked her sister, furrowing his eyebrows.

"Well, he was pretty mean to Anne a week ago. Called her names and pulled her hair," Vivianne began explaining, "but it doesn't matter. I lack any desire to speak with him."

Henry rolled his eyes.

"You girls and your sensitivity."

"You boys and your abnormality!" Vivianne snapped back.
