I woke up with the sun that morning. In the rush last night with Fred waking up and the owl sent in the dead of night, I forgot to close the curtains on my window.
Figures.
I sit up and look around my room. Then all that happened last night hit me. I see the owl still perched on my shelf, sleeping blissfully. I quickly reach under my pillow and grab the letter. I look around to make sure nobody is around and then open it.
Inside. There was swirly handwriting, addressed to me.
Dear Ginny, I hope you get this letter. This is my owl, Hunter. I just wanted to see if this will work as a means of communication so please send a letter back. Telling me if this is a good way to communicate.
-Draco Malfoy
I could have danced around the room for how happy I was. I grabbed a piece of parchment and an ink container and started scribbling down a note back. My handwriting got sloppy because I was writing so fast.
Draco, I got your letter and cannot wait to owl you all summer! Maybe try not to send the owl at night? I almost got killed by Fred when the owl came through. Thanks for sending one first. I don't think Erol could have made the trip...
-Ginny Weasley
I sealed up the letter and attached it securely to Hunter's left foot. Then let him back out of my window. I watched him soar over the hill and out of sight. Then I put on a pair of jeans, a belt, and a bright pink T-shirt. I grabbed my book and went downstairs for breakfast.
I was about halfway down the stairs when I heard George holler at me from the living room.
"Hey Gin! We are going to play Quidditch! We need someone to even out the teams! Wanna join?" I had made it down the stairs and saw Fred, George, and Ron sitting on the sofa, looking excited.
I stood for a moment, considering my options while my brothers looked at me with pleading eyes.
"Fine" I finally said. They all got up to go get the brooms when I put up a hand to stop them.
"I get to choose the teams."
"Alright, Alright," said Ron. Defeated.
"RACE YOU!" Yells George.
We all run as fast as we can down to the shed where the brooms were kept. George got there first because he got a head start. Then Fred gets there right after. They grab their brooms. Ron and I are next to each other, pushing and shoving to get there first. We are almost there when an idea comes to me. I put on a burst of speed and I am slightly ahead of Ron, so I put out my foot and trip him. Ron goes tumbling downwards as I make it to the shed. I got two, painful high-fives from Fred and George. This is the first time I have ever been third and not last to the shed. Im laughing with my brothers when I feel a tap on my shoulder. I turn around and see Ron towering above me, looking quite angry.
Ron grabs me by the waist, spins me around two times, and tosses me down the small hill we just ran up. I start screaming. Light. Dark. Time. Space. Thought. It was all a blur as I floated through the air. Unable to control any of my movements. Finally, I hit the ground. First a thump and then a Snap.
Oh no.
Pain exploded in my left shoulder and I crumpled to the ground and lay there. Trying not to move for any motion would just cause more blistering pain.
I heard Ron laughing about how he was not last anymore and giving me "A taste of my own medicine". George was scolding Ron for what he did. Saying "I was not his brother and therefore could not take as much as he could. I was fragile and frail". I heard Fred's footsteps coming closer as he descended the small hill to see if I was okay.
I finally sat up out of my curled position. Another wave of pain came through my shoulder and I made a small yelp of a sound and laid back down. Fred had made it over to me.
"What hurts Gin?" Fred said calmly as he squatted down next to me to inspect the injury.
"My shoulder. I think it might be dislocated. " I said warily.
"Well Mum can make quick work of that," said Fred. Relieved that it was nothing worse.
Fred helped me up and walked me inside where we found Mum making lunch. When she saw the expression on my face, however, she stopped what she was doing and ran over.
"What happened dear are you alright?" she said worriedly.
"She's alright mum. just needs a little relocation in the shoulder there." He said with a sheepish smile.
"Well alright then," Mum said. She grabbed her wand from her pocket and pointed it at my shoulder.
"Brackium Emendo!" She said and with a few twirls of her wand, there was no more pain in my shoulder.
"Thanks, Mum" Fred and I said in unison. Then we both ran back out of the door, back to Ron and George where they were still babbling.
"Guys! Break it up. She's fine," said Fred, holding up my arm.
"Awe Ickle Ronnikins is upset that he's not first" Said George as the last means of fighting.
"Well, I am still making the teams so, Fred and Me, George and Ron," I say matter-of-factly.
We all went to the makeshift Quidditch pitch and started the match.
And that's basically it for my day. Do you have any plans for tomorrow Draco?
-Ginny Weasley
I seal the letter, attach it to Hunter's foot, and send it out the window. Sealing another day in parchment for Draco to read.
Thank you for reading this far! Im super excited to write about Ginny's second year at Hogwarts!
