The next morning, Lin Yu woke up early, his body still sore from the previous day's training. Determined to improve, he decided to head to the secluded courtyard where he had first met Xu Wei.
As he approached the courtyard, he saw Xu Wei already there, practicing a series of intricate forms. The senior disciple’s movements were graceful and powerful, each motion a testament to years of rigorous training.
Xu Wei paused when he noticed Lin Yu’s arrival, a faint smile touching his lips.
“You’re early,” he remarked.“I wanted to get some extra practice in,” Lin Yu replied, bowing respectfully.“If it’s not too much trouble, could you help me with my Qi exercises?”Xu Wei nodded.
“Of course. Let’s begin.”Over the next few weeks, Lin Yu and Xu Wei met regularly in the early mornings for private training sessions.
Xu Wei’s guidance was invaluable, his deep understanding of Qi manipulation and martial arts helping Lin Yu make significant progress. One morning, as they practiced a particularly challenging form, Xu Wei stepped closer, his hands gently adjusting Lin Yu’s posture.
“Remember, it’s not just about the physical movements,” he said softly.
“You must also focus on the flow of Qi. Let it guide your actions.”Lin Yu felt a strange warmth at Xu Wei’s touch, a sense of reassurance and encouragement.
He nodded, trying to internalize the advice. With each session, he grew more confident in his abilities, his control over Qi becoming more refined.Xu Wei’s presence was a constant source of support.
Despite his stoic exterior, there were moments of warmth and understanding that deepened their bond. Lin Yu found himself looking forward to their training sessions, not just for the improvement in his skills, but also for the companionship and unspoken connection they shared.
Encounter with Jian Chen
One afternoon, after a particularly intense training session, Lin Yu decided to explore more of the sect grounds.
As he walked through the central courtyard, he noticed a commotion near one of the practice areas.Curious, he approached and saw a group of disciples gathered around, watching a sparring match. At the center was Jian Chen, a well-known disciple with a reputation for his arrogance and skill.
He was sparring with another disciple, easily overpowering his opponent with swift, powerful strikes. As the match ended, Jian Chen’s eyes fell on Lin Yu. A sneer crossed his face.
“Ah, the new disciple brought in by Elder Ming,” he said loudly, drawing the attention of the onlookers. “What makes you so special?”Lin Yu felt a surge of anger but kept his composure.
“I’m just here to learn and improve, like everyone else,” he replied
calmly.
Jian Chen’s sneer deepened. “You think you can compete with us just because an elder took pity on you? Prove it.”The challenge hung in the air, the crowd watching intently.Lin Yu knew he couldn’t back down. Taking a deep breath, he stepped into the practice area.
Jian Chen attacked with a flurry of quick, precise strikes, but Lin Yu managed to dodge and deflect, using the techniques he had learned from Xu Wei.The fight was intense, each movement testing Lin Yu’s skills and resilience.Despite Jian Chen’s superior strength and experience, Lin Yu’s determination and quick thinking allowed him to hold his ground.
He used his smaller size to his advantage, dodging and weaving to avoid Jian Chen’s powerful blows. After several minutes of intense sparring, Lin Yu managed to land a decisive strike, knocking Jian Chen off balance.
The crowd erupted in surprised murmurs, impressed by Lin Yu’s unexpected skill.Jian Chen glared at Lin Yu, clearly humiliated but unable to deny his opponent’s prowess.
“This isn’t over,” he muttered before storming off.As the crowd dispersed, Xu Wei approached, his expression unreadable.
“You handled yourself well,” he said quietly. “But be careful. Jian Chen won’t forget this.”Lin Yu nodded, feeling a mix of relief and pride.
“Thank you, Senior Xu Wei. I’ll be careful.”Xu Wei’s gaze softened slightly. “Remember, you’re not alone. If you need help, I’m here.”Lin Yu felt a warmth spread through him at Xu Wei’s words.
Despite the challenges and conflicts, he knew he had found a mentor and friend he could rely on.As the days turned into weeks, Lin Yu continued to train hard, his bond with Xu Wei growing stronger with each passing day.
The Blue Moon Sect was becoming a place of discovery and growth, and Lin Yu was determined to make the most of every opportunity.
