Chasing You

chapter 14: the beginning

After their first class the next day,Beam and his friends got called from the dean's office together with the other medical students. They are all wondering why. The secretary instructed them to proceed to the conference room. When they entered the hall, the student president of the medical faculty and their seniors were present, Sharp was one of them. He cheerfully approached the incoming group, especially Beam. Beam and the others greeted them and Sharp personally took Beam's arm and guided him to sit beside him and the rest followed.

When they were all seated, in a few seconds the Dean arrived. They all stand up to greet him.

"Good morning, Dean" they say in unison

"Good morning, you may all sit down." He instructed. "I call all of you today to discuss some important matters that need our participation." He continues. " The engineering department will hold their sotus closing ceremony in the last week of this month, they will do the activity at XXXX mountain park, their dean requested for us to assist them during the time period of the activity. So I call all of you because you were the one chosen to give them assistance." He said "all of you will give assistance to our two doctors who will be joining. Accommodations and foods are covered by the engineering department and also the rides, so no need to bring your own car."

The group intently listens to the dean, all of them are excited, but not Beam. It is the sotus event, so Forth will be there. He thought. He actually doesn't want to encounter Forth as of the moment so he raises his hands to decline.

"Yes Mr. Baramee, are you raising your hand?" He asked

"Ahm...Dean is it ok if i will not join this activity?" He asked timidly. His friends looked at him with knotted brows but New knew better.

"Why Mr.Baramee, any valid reason?"

The Dean asked but Beam couldn't answer, because he can't just say that he doesn't want to join because of Forth.

"Since you have no valid reason, my answer is no. You are one of the best students in the third year level, so I personally choose you to be in this activity. And the certificate to be given to all of you will be useful in the future." The Dean said and smiled at all of them. So Beam has nothing to do but to nod his head in agreement.

After the meeting, they go back to their respective rooms. Sharp walked with Beam and encouraged Beam to be excited for the upcoming event. Beam just smiled at him.

At the engineering department:

Forth and his friends were gathered at the school canteen eating their lunch.

"Forth have you heard the news?" Asked Lam to Forth who's focused on his food. He slightly raised his head and looked at Lam.

"What news?" He inquired

"That the medical students will assist in our sotus final ceremony next week." Said Lam

"Really!" All his friend said in excitement, but not Forth. After hearing what Lam said he goes back to his business.

Forths behavior didn't escape Lam's.

"And Beam and his friends will be joining the team." He said, that's when Forths face lit up. He smiles and goes back to eating happily. Lam smirks at his friend's behavior.

Forths was happy the whole afternoon, but not Beam. Rather than being happy, he is quite nervous. He kept thinking what he did when he encountered Forth in the sotus ceremony. How he will react. Is he going to follow New's advice to give Forth a second chance? He doesn't know.

The day came, the medical team together with their two Professors rode in the bus as the engineering students. No one was allowed to bring their own car.
