Side Story 6: Duality Part 2

After that night Venice didn't know what to do nor how to approach Rain. Admittedly, he really didn't know how to face such strong feelings or emotions. There is just something inside him that has changed ever since he woke up from that dream. The void that he felt before can't even hide that change. So now he contemplates...

'Is it okay to entertain such thoughts? Is it the right thing to do to pursue Rain?'

But then he remembers Rain's words. Younger man had told him to leave him alone. And Venice knew he can't really pursue Rain with his mind still confused and unsure of what he is currently feeling.

'Is it truly his emotions only the effect of the dream that he had?'

'Is rain even attracted to him?'

'Will rain even bother looking at him?'

'Will rain even accept him?'

Rain sat by the Compound's pool area. He looked on towards the gardens where he can see Sky sitting beside Porsche, the older clearly trying to get the other boy's attention away from the currently comatosed Prapai.

Rain let out of deep breath before looking away from his friend then he looked to the water on the pool his thoughts going back to the night when he had asked Venice to leave him alone and stop confusing him

Because with how Venice had been behaving towards him coupled with his confusion from the dream that he woke up from, such actions from the older man had only made it worse.

Rain knew he was attracted to Venice, the older man is handsome and has shown that he actually cared but at times when the older man ignores him or treats him coldly, he feels that something just breaks inside him that he didn't know even existed until Venice.

'Is this the effect of the dream?'

'Was rain only being influenced by the rain from his dream?'

'Or is this something that he truly feels?'

'Is it just wishful thinking?'

Meanwhile, Venice looked out from his room's window and watched Rain from what he deemed as a safe distance.

"You know, you can always try and talk to him again." Venice looked behind him to saw that his Pa Pete had just come inside his room.

"Hello Pa." He greeted and gave his Pa a hug before sitting down on his bed.

"So?" Pete looked at Venice looking a bit hopeful.

"So what Pa?" Venice just retorted.

"Are you going to talk to Nong Rain?"

"As I've said a few times Pa, he told me to stay away."

"And that's all it takes to get you to back off?"

"Yes, if that would give him his peace of mind, then yes."

Pete sighed. His son may look so calm but he can see the emotion swimming in his son's eyes.

Longing... Fear... Love...

"What's making you so afraid, Ven?" Pete sat beside his son, pulling him close to him.

"It's just nothing Pa-"

"We both know that's a lie."

Venice sighed. He knows nothing gets past his Pa when he's determined.

"I'm just so confused right now Pa. I know for a while now that no one will ever be right for me-"

"That's wrong. There is someone for everyone, son."

"Not for me. No." Pete looked at his son who's eyes now looked colder.

"Listen Ven, my baby... I know how much heartbreak you've gone through..." Pete started, when Venice didn't say anything and just kept looking away, he continued.

"But that doesn't mean you wouldn't find that someone. And from what I can see, Nong Rain may just be the one for you..."

"No Pa. Rain's not the one for me. He's gone through enough. I will only bring more danger into his life-"

"See? You're thinking of his safety over anything else." Pete smiled.

"No- Just- I don't want to hurt him anymore than he'd already been."

"That's exactly what I'm saying, Ven. You prioritize Rain's safety and wellbeing over anything else. You even followed his words. But I know for a fact, you have a group looking after him. Whenever and wherever he goes. I know you, Ven. I know that even when you've been hurt, you will alway put your loved ones first." Pete looked on to his son, reaching out to pat his head.

"But- What if- What if I'm just being influenced by my dream-" Venice had to pause when he realized what he had just said.

"What dream Ven?" Pete's brows furrowed.

Venice looked at his Pa before sighing.

He then proceeded to narrate the dream he had, his confusion, the hurt he felt when he woke up from the dream. The emptiness he felt whenever Rain leaves his sight.

"Oh, Ven... You're only confused, my baby." Pete hugged his son who had finally talked to him about his fears and his feelings. Pete knew not to doubt his son's words, especially with what happened or still happening to his nephew Prapai. It's not that far-fetched for his son to experience such things.

"I am confused, Pa. What will happen if it turns out it's not actually my feelings but just some residue from that dream-"

"Do you remember when you first felt anything towards Nong?" Pete asked, already knowing the answer but he knew he needed to do these things to help his son realize that loving someone isn't something to be afraid of.

In all the time he knew Rain, he also saw how the boy would look at his son when he thinks no one is looking.

"When I saw his photograph, the one from when he's still in the mansion... I didn't really feel anything." Pete just nodded urging Venice to continue.

"Then, Pai told me about his world's version of me and how he met Rain. How they came to be... Their story, their love... When I heard that I was jealous Pa. I envied that Phayu. Why can he have something I yearn for? Am I not worthy of such love?" Pete's heart broke as he saw tears start to stream down Venice's cheeks.

'Just how much pain and fear were you hiding Ven?' Pete pulled his son into a hug.

This is one of the rare moments he sees his son's vulnerable side. Venice had always been the one to hide his emotions completely. He had cried to him from the very first time he had his heart broken, but never again after that. Sure he saw pain but never something like this.

This just shows how attached Venice had become to the younger boy within such a short period of time. And that is something Pete will never question.

Because he himself fell for his now husband, Vegas Theerapanyakun, even after the man tortured him. True he despised Vegas, being one of the head bodyguards from the main family, but when he saw Vegas' carefully concealed fears, insecurities and desperation? Pete's heart had reached out to the emotionally drained man.

"You are worthy, my baby. Never think that you don't deserve to be loved. And I am confident that if you do pursue Nong Rain, you will be able to tear down his walls."

Venice smiled through his now dried tears and hugged his Pa before releasing him and finally looking at his Pa's eyes.

"I'll try Pa. I won't let my fears dictate me anymore. I'll talk to Rain." Pete smiled at his son's declaration.

"Always remember that your dad and I are here for you. We love you, Venice. Never forget that."

'Pa's right. I can only come out and do my best to pursue Rain. This time, I will be clear to him. I will tell him my intentions.'

'Be ready Rain, this Storm will be chasing after you...'
