Family & kissing
Erika
. . .

I spent basically the first part of break finishing Rachel's letters, feeling indifferent, and dodging Rachel's puppy TikToks and Rugsby related pictures.

It's cute- honestly, but with my family members coming around and flying out for Thanksgiving, by the time I am ready to talk to her, I'm too busy.

And maybe a little reluctant, I know I have to tell her about the letters eventually.

But...

Hopefully not soon.

"Uno!" Danny says with a yawn. Being the only three kids in the whole family- because my Aunt Maddy never had or adopted children, my cousins Danny and Evie- ten and four, mostly spend the holidays staring at each other.

"Aw man, I was beat... again" I try to sound sad but I'm honestly just bored.

My phone dings as if I just know it's Rachel, I scramble to find it.

It's not, it's a notification from instagram that Libby's going live- but I already know what it's about so I clear the notification.

Libby and Autumn are both gone- Libby to her family's cabin, Autumn to New York to visit her uncle Jasper with August.

I sigh. Even if I'm avoiding her I desperately want to be texted.

That's so dumb.

"I wanna cookie" Evie's brown eyes look up at me.

"Sure kid" I shrug, "knock yourselves out".

"Yes!" Danny and Evie run downstairs while I sit in the messiness of my bedroom.

Bored. Bored. Bored. So many family members in my house right now and the best I can do is ten and four year olds?

The door bell rings as I whip out my phone and start scrolling through instagram.

I assume someone else will get it so I lay back in my bed.

"Hey Erikaaaa my absolute favorite niece" Aunt Maddy appears in my door way, I look at her as she's looking around in fear that Evie's behind her.

"What's up?"

"Can I not just want to talk to you?"

I smile, "and accidentally get beat up by a toddler again? Nah"

"Shush, we don't talk about that" she gives me a look and I burst into laughter, "totally" I snort.

"Oh you think you're funny, huh?" She shakes her head, "there's a girl here for you".

My brows furrow, "is it June?"

"Who?" She looks confused, "no...?"

"Okay yeah- forgot nobody really..." I throw my legs over the edge of my bed and slip my feet into my gray bunny slippers- a one of my many old birthday gifts before walking down stairs, "where are they?" I question when I get to the door and see nobody.
