Beijing -2022

Commentator's Pov

"Today in Beijing, we have an exhilarating day of snowboarding action ahead. In the women's categories, we have the favourites: Laurie Blouin from Canada, Jamie Anderson from the United States, Lucile Lefebvre from France, and Victoria Nielsen from Denmark. These athletes are at the top of their game, and we're in for a treat. Among them, Victoria stands out as a young prodigy at just 21 years old. Her talent and potential are undeniable. These Olympics are going to be fascinating to watch. In a few minutes, the first competitor will set the initial mark of the Beijing 2022 Winter Olympics. Let's get to watching."

"The first one in the lineup is Lucile Lefebvre representing France. You can see her at the top, getting ready to set her mark. I have high hopes for her." Lucile started heading down the slope with confidence. Her movements were fluid, and she seemed to glide effortlessly over the snow. Suddenly, disaster struck. "Oh no, that's one of her boots that unclipped from her board! What terrible luck for Lefebvre. We can see her carefully making her way down the side after taking off her snowboard. At least she didn't injure herself; that could have gone bad quickly. Let's go see the mark." "The final mark is 28.35." "Ouch, that must hurt because it's not all her fault. We can see her leaving with her head down to go to her team. This must be a tough moment for her."

"The next competitor is Victoria Nielsen from Denmark. This 16-year-old girl is making her first appearance at the Olympics, and it's going to be interesting to see how she performs. She is getting placed at the top, and the barrier is down. There she goes." Victoria launched herself down the slope with remarkable speed and agility. Her technique was impeccable, and her jumps were executed with precision and grace. As she arrived at the finish, the crowd erupted into cheers, including myself. "That was an amazing performance from Nielsen, better than I expected. Let's see the score." "The final mark is 83.17." "Best score of the event at the moment." "Let's see the next one."

Victoria's POV:

I can't believe it. I got 83.17! "Victoria, you did it! I'm so proud," I heard my dad say as he rushed over to hug me. "That was amazing. I couldn't have expected better. That was perfect," my coach said, giving me a high five. "Thank you, guys. I have no words. I'm shocked. I can't believe it."

As I was heading towards the interview area, I noticed Lucile walking with her head down, looking dejected. My heart went out to her, and I decided to talk to her before she could leave. "Hey Lucile, I saw what happened. You deserved a better score. It wasn't your fault. I know you could have gotten a 90 mark. Don't beat yourself up, okay? Keep your head up, girl." She looked up, surprised but grateful. "Thanks, Victoria. That means a lot. I just really feel guilty for my team, but you did amazing. Be proud." "You too. Take care of yourself." We exchanged a quick hug, and I left to do my interview.

"Victoria, that was amazing! How do you feel?" the interviewer asked, holding the microphone towards me. "Honestly, I'm speechless. I have no words. But I feel terrible for Lucile. She is an amazing snowboarder, and I wish her the best. She deserves to have a medal."

"Nobody told you?" the interviewer asked, a twinkle in her eye. "Tell me what?" I asked, confused. "You got the gold." "What! Oh my god, I can't believe it. Oh my freaking god," I exclaimed, tears of joy welling up in my eyes. "It's okay. You can go now. Go celebrate," she said with a warm smile.

I left the interview area in a daze, my heart pounding with excitement. As soon as I saw my team, they rushed over, lifting me in celebration. "You did it, Victoria! You're a gold medalist!" they cheered. We hugged, laughed, and cried together, soaking in the moment. My dad's proud smile and my coach's encouraging words replayed in my mind.
