The next morning, a soft glow of sunlight filtered through the curtains, casting a warm, golden hue across the room. The gentle caress of the early light stirred me awake, pulling me from the depths of a peaceful slumber. For a moment, I simply lay there, savoring the rare luxury of waking up slowly, with no rush to be anywhere. The quietness of the morning was comforting, a rare gift in our usually hectic lives.
As I shifted slightly, I became aware of the weight of Logan's arm draped protectively over my waist. His steady breathing, warm and rhythmic, tickled the back of my neck, and I couldn't help but smile at the comforting presence beside me. The warmth of his body against mine, the gentle rise and fall of his chest, and the faint scent of his cologne lingering in the air—it was a combination that made it incredibly hard to leave the cozy confines of our shared bed.
For a while, I just lay there, letting my mind wander back to the night before. The memory of us dancing in the living room played on repeat, a beautiful moment of effortless connection. The way his hands had felt on my waist as we swayed to the music, how our bodies moved in perfect harmony, the softness of his lips against mine—it was a memory I knew would linger in my mind for a long time. I wanted to hold onto that moment, to keep it close and savor it whenever life got too chaotic.
But eventually, the call of the day grew stronger, and I knew we couldn't stay in bed forever. I shifted slightly, trying to disentangle myself from Logan without waking him, but the moment I moved, his grip tightened around me, pulling me closer.
"Morning," his voice was husky with sleep, a deep, warm sound that sent a pleasant shiver down my spine.
"Morning," I replied softly, turning in his arms to face him. His hair was adorably tousled, and his eyes were still heavy with sleep, but the contented smile on his lips was unmistakable.
"Do we have to get up?" he asked, his voice carrying a hint of a playful whine, his eyes pleading with me as if the thought of leaving this cocoon of warmth was the worst thing in the world.
I chuckled, tracing a finger along his jawline, feeling the slight roughness of his morning stubble. "Well, considering I promised to teach you how to snowboard today, we probably should," I teased, though part of me was tempted to give in to his request.
He groaned dramatically, burying his face in the pillow for a moment before peeking up at me with a mischievous glint in his eyes. "Are you sure? I could just stay in bed all day with you. We don't have to snowboard," he suggested, a playful smirk tugging at the corners of his lips.
"As tempting as that sounds," I said, laughing softly, "we'd miss out on the snow. Besides, I'm curious to see if you can actually stay on your feet this time."
Logan chuckled, his eyes lighting up with amusement mixed with a dash of determination. "Challenge accepted," he said, his tone playful yet resolute.
We lingered in bed for a few more minutes, savoring the warmth and the simple pleasure of being close to each other. But eventually, we knew it was time to get up. The day awaited us, and I had a promise to keep.
As we reluctantly left the bed, the warmth of the morning gave way to the crispness of the day. We dressed in layers, ready to face the cold and the challenge of the slopes. The small mountain town where I lived was perfect for snowboarding, with pristine, untouched slopes just a short drive away. It was one of the reasons I loved it here—the quiet beauty of the place, the way it felt like a hidden gem away from the hustle and bustle of life.
Logan looked slightly out of place as we stepped outside, bundled up in his new snowboarding gear. But the grin on his face was unmistakable, a mix of excitement and slight apprehension. "I can't believe you actually convinced me to do this," he said, shaking his head as he glanced at the snowboard I was carrying with ease.
