The next morning, sunlight filtered through the curtains, casting a warm glow over the beach house. Lucile's departure loomed, a mix of excitement for her and a tinge of sadness for us. As we helped her pack, the reality of her leaving sank in.
"Are you sure you've got everything?" Sophie asked, double-checking the room.
Lucile nodded, zipping up her suitcase. "Yeah, I think I'm all set. But I'm going to miss you guys so much."
We exchanged hugs, holding on a little longer than usual. "We're going to miss you too, Lucile," I said, my voice thick with emotion. "But we'll see each other soon, and we have the race to look forward to."
Lucile smiled, her eyes glistening slightly. "Absolutely. And we'll stay in touch every day until then."
We loaded into the taxi, the atmosphere a mix of laughter and lingering goodbyes. The drive to the airport was filled with reminiscing about the best moments of our trip and making promises to meet again soon. When we arrived, we walked Lucile to the security checkpoint, exchanging tight hugs and heartfelt farewells.
"Take care, Lucile," Sophie said, her voice wavering slightly.
"You too, and keep me updated on everything," Lucile replied, waving one last time before disappearing into the crowd.
As we made our way back to the beach house, Sophie turned to me. "Well, it's just us now. What should we do today?"
"How about we start with some breakfast and then hit the beach?" I suggested, trying to shake off the sadness of saying goodbye to Lucile.
We found a cozy café by the beach and enjoyed a leisurely breakfast, chatting about our plans for the day. The warm sun and gentle breeze lifted our spirits, and soon we were back at the beach, ready for a day of relaxation.
As we lounged on our beach chairs, Sophie pulled out her phone. "Hey, let's check out Logan and Oscar's Instagram again. See if they've posted anything new."
I leaned over to look at her screen. Sure enough, there was a new post from Logan. It was a candid shot of him and Oscar at the café from last night, with the caption, "Great night with new friends! Ready for more adventures 🌊☀️."
"Look at that," Sophie said, her eyes twinkling. "He mentioned us!"
I felt a flutter of excitement. "Comment something," I urged, feeling a rush of anticipation.
Sophie typed quickly, "Had an amazing time too! Looking forward to the next hangout! 😄"
Within minutes, Logan replied, "Same here! Let's plan something fun! 😊"
Sophie turned to me with a mischievous grin. "See, he's definitely into you."
I rolled my eyes but couldn't help but smile. "Maybe. But he's just being friendly."
"Friendly my foot," Sophie teased. "Did you see his comment from last night? 'Only if Victoria is on my team!' That's not just friendly."
"Okay, maybe he's a little flirty," I admitted, laughing.
"A little? Victoria, he's practically shouting it from the rooftops!" Sophie said, chuckling. "What do you think about him?"
"I think he's fun to be around," I said thoughtfully. "And he's really sweet. Plus, it's kind of exciting to hang out with a Formula One driver."
"Absolutely," Sophie agreed. "And who knows? Maybe there's more to come."
We spent the next few hours soaking up the sun, gossiping about Logan and Oscar, and making plans for the rest of the day. Our conversation drifted back to old memories, inside jokes, and the adventures we had shared over the years.
