Back in Denmark, the familiar cool, crisp air greeted us as we stepped off the plane. The scent of pine trees mixed with the faint saltiness from the nearby sea, and the sound of distant waves crashing against the shore brought a sense of peace and belonging. It felt good to be home.
Resuming my training routine was a comforting return to normalcy. The rigorous schedule, with its early mornings and late afternoons, was like an old friend. The rush of the wind against my face as I sped down the snowy slopes, the satisfying burn in my muscles after an intense session, all reminded me of why I loved this sport so much. Sophie, ever the supportive sister, was by my side, cheering me on and helping me stay focused.
One particularly cold afternoon, after an intense training session, I collapsed onto the bench, panting heavily. My coach, Lars, a grizzled man with years of experience, gave me a nod of approval. "Godt arbejde i dag, Victoria," he said, his voice gruff but kind. "Du forbedrer dig virkelig." (Good job today, Victoria. You're really improving.)
"Tak, Lars," I replied, wiping sweat from my forehead. "Jeg kan mærke, at jeg bliver stærkere." (Thanks, Lars. I can feel myself getting stronger.)
Sophie handed me a water bottle and grinned. "Jeg ved, at du er klar til at vinde den næste konkurrence," she said confidently. (I know you're ready to win the next competition.)
"Jeg håber det," I replied, taking a long drink. (I hope so.)
As I stretched and cooled down, I couldn't help but think about Logan. We had grown closer over the past months, sharing more than just our adventures. There was an undeniable chemistry between us, and I missed his playful banter and warm presence.
Later that evening, after a hearty dinner, I picked up my phone to text Logan. Our conversation had been brief since we got back, but I wanted to keep the connection alive.
Victoria: Hey Logan! 😊 How are you? Training is going great here. I was wondering... would you and Oscar be interested in coming to Denmark for my next competition? It would mean a lot to me.
I hit send and waited, my heart racing a little. It didn't take long for my phone to buzz with a reply.
Logan: Hey Victoria! I'm good, just missing you. Oscar and I would love to come. When's the competition?
Victoria: It's in two weeks! I'll send you all the details. It'll be great to see you both again.
Logan: Can't wait. It's a date then. 😉
The thought of seeing Logan again brought a smile to my face. I quickly sent him the details before turning my attention to Sophie, who was lounging on the couch, flipping through a fashion magazine.
"Sophie, guess what? Logan and Oscar are coming to my competition!" I announced, plopping down beside her.
"Seriously? That's awesome!" she exclaimed, her eyes lighting up. "You must be excited."
"I am," I admitted, feeling a flutter of excitement. "It's going to be great."
A few days later, Sophie and I decided to have a girls' night out. We dressed up, feeling a bit giddy as we headed to our favorite café in town. The place was cozy, with soft lighting and a relaxed atmosphere. We ordered our drinks and settled into a corner booth, ready to catch up.
"So, tell me more about Logan," Sophie said, leaning in with a mischievous grin. "I saw some pictures online, you know."
I blushed, taking a sip of my coffee. "What pictures?"
She pulled out her phone and showed me a series of paparazzi shots from Fort Lauderdale. There we were, Logan and I, laughing on the beach, sharing a quiet moment by the fire. "These ones," she said, smirking.
