Arjun's POV :
She gulped hard and turned away to look outside the window. Her face was red with embarrassment.
I enjoy this. Maybe now she will remember what I would do if she annoys me again.
" I should appreciate your chivalry though" she said tilting her head to side.
Chivalry ?, nope, it was purely self control.
My god, I loved the way she had to look up at my face to talk. Her face was slightly lifted to see me. Her eyes were shaky and her lips were slightly trembling.
" Thank you ! " I said and slightly released my hand from the bar to give a bow.
" What are your plans for the holidays ?" She asked me.
Trying to ease the tension Deepika ?, nah, I am not going to let you escape that easily.
I leaned in slightly, closing the gap between us, making sure she felt the heat of my presence.
"Oh, you know, the usual... maybe spending some time with someone special," I said, my voice low and suggestive.
Her eyebrows knit together in confusion.
"Someone special?" she repeated, tilting her head, trying to piece it together.
I chuckled softly. "Yeah, someone who always manages to keep things interesting," I said, watching her closely.
Her eyes widened slightly, and for a moment, I thought she finally got it, but then she blinked, clearly still puzzled.
"Interesting? Like... adventurous activities?" she asked, clearly off the mark.
I couldn't help but smile at her innocence.
I decided to be a bit more direct.
" Not exactly what I had in my mind. You know, Deepika, sometimes the best company is someone who can make you laugh and keep you on your toes," I said, giving her a meaningful look.
Her mouth opened slightly in surprise, and for a moment, she was speechless. The bus jolted to a stop, and she grabbed onto the bar for balance, still looking at me with wide eyes.
She finally looked up at me, her eyes searching mine.
She blinked, her cheeks turning an even deeper shade of red. "Is it... Anusha?" she asked hesitantly.
I couldn't help but laugh, though it was tinged with frustration.
"No, Deepika," I said, shaking my head.
"It's not Anusha." I said.
The annoyance was creeping in now, and I was so done with this word puzzle.
Why can't I just tell her ! For once !
The bus pulled up to my stop, and I straightened up, giving her one last look.
"Maybe one day you'll figure it out," I said, a touch of exasperation in my voice. With that, I stepped off the bus, leaving her to ponder my words as the doors closed behind me.
I got in a share auto and as I started walking towards my home, my frustration boiled over.
Why can't I just say it? Why can't I just tell her directly that I like her? This endless dance of hints and clues is exhausting.
Maybe it's the fear of rejection. Maybe it's the way she looks at me with those wide eyes, completely oblivious to my words. How can she be so blind to something so obvious?
And there is this Vishal, I did hear him calling her " Deeps ", who gave him the right to call her by that ?, and what bike ride ?, with him?.
I can't even imagine what would have happened if I didn't hear them while talking with Vinoth.
