Arjun's POV:
"We still have the final viva," I reminded Arul, though he was grinning from ear to ear as we walked out of the review.
"Thank you, Arjun!" Anusha beamed at me, her face glowing with excitement.
"Without you, we couldn't have done it," Bhavani added, her voice full of gratitude.
Just as we stepped out of the classroom, Anusha suddenly hugged me, her arms wrapping tightly around my neck in sheer happiness.
"You're the best!" Anusha said, her excitement bubbling over.
But even as I felt her arms around me, my eyes instinctively searched for someone else. And there she was—Deepika. Her eyes locked onto mine, her jaw practically dropped to the floor. The look on her face was priceless.
Wait, is she… jealous?
The thought sent a small thrill through me. Deepika’s expression was so intense that I almost laughed.
Poor Deepika, I thought, quickly disentangling myself from Anusha’s arms.
"Thanks, Anusha," I mumbled, stepping away from her, but I couldn’t stop myself from glancing back at Deepika. She was standing with Daniel, and the death stare she was giving me was enough to make anyone quake in their boots. But instead of feeling intimidated, I felt something else entirely. Damn, she’s fiery.
"It's too early to celebrate," I told Anusha as we settled on the staircase.
"Next week is internals, right?" Indhu asked, pulling Anusha’s attention away from me.
"Yeah, I got notes from seniors," Anusha replied, still buzzing with energy.
But my thoughts were far away, back to that moment not too long ago when I had caught Deepika from behind.
I could still feel the way her body had fit against mine, the sudden shock that had run through me like electricity. My heart had nearly stopped, and then, as if making up for lost beats, it had started pounding in my chest, so loud I was sure she could hear it. That moment had felt like it stretched on forever, and the heat that had blazed through me was something I couldn’t easily forget.
"Deepika will help us," Arul added, looking relaxed as ever. And it pulled me back to reality.
I couldn’t help but wonder, When did Arul get added to the study group? And who else is in it?
I’m tired. I need to get out of here.
“I’m tired. I’ll leave now. See you later, guys,” I said, standing up.
“All that NASA work, huh?” Anusha asked, tilting her head at me.
“Well, I like working with the seniors,” I replied, trying to focus.
In truth, I really did enjoy working on the GSen trophy. The last few days had been exhausting, but the thrill of working alongside Vignesh, the third and second-year seniors made it all worthwhile.
They were leaving for the NASA convention next week, heading to Jaipur. The HOD had given permission only for the boys to go since it was a long-distance trip.
Maybe someday I’ll lead a team for the GSen trophy to the convention, I mused, allowing myself a small smile at the thought.
“When you do NASA, I’ll be on your team, okay? Reserve a spot for me! Promise?” Anusha asked, her voice breaking through my thoughts.
“Okay,” I replied, smiling at her.
I waved to the group, my mind still half on the conversation with Anusha, but as I made my way to the parking lot, my focus shifted entirely to Deepika.
